McGrattan is out.

You should hear Ottawa radio. They're ripping on Boulerice just as much as Downie. I know I didn't see it, but I guess they don't understand the rules that you can't be a 3rd man in.

It's the exact same thing as a Colby Armstrong hit, except for the puck was gone for slightly longer. Unfortunately with Downie he's got the reputation

Yeah. I don't even know if Downie would have seen he didn't have the puck, cause he dished it off while he was behind the net and out of Downie's view.

Saunders said -- with trepidation --that it was a late hit.

Hey man in my first post I wished McAmmond good health. I just appreciate players that hit, hustle, and fight

It's not good to have a rep before you even play an NHL game.

Boulerice did exactly the right thing and was trying to pull McGrattan off. **** the Ottawa radio homos. Downie was under an Ottawa player, under a ref, and McGrattan is jumping on top throwing shots.

i agree, with everything but the saying it wasnt late. i believe it was, and i believe 99% of Armstrongs hits are late to.

Honestly, i think you are right here. From the angle Downie is coming in he probably doesn't know that the puck is gone.

HOWEVER

anyone saying that this isn't a late hit is the biggest homer in the world. Seriously.

Exactly. McAmmond wasn't looking -- not Downie's fault. And I don't believe Downie had any way of knowing he didn't have the puck. It deserved 2 for charging, without question. But it wasn't any later than 90% of the hits in the league.

That's kinda what I was thinking. Armstrong tends to time it a little better however.

Downie shouldn't have jumped at the guy.

Huh? This just makes me want him more...they were taking liberties with Downie...he had enough...he defended himself. He has to make his rep in this league and his rep is not that of a pu$$y. That said, it was a late type hit but it didn't seem "dirty" per se compared to some of the vicious plays we see often enough...let's see if we can kill it off...guess not 9 seconds left on the penalty and Corvo scores...sigh.

They also said that they were piling on top of McAmmond, which I find hard to believe.

He wasn't looking where he was skating no. And I don't think it was late. The didn't show the replay in real time so it probably looked late but it wasn't late imo. He did leave his feet though and that makes it look pretty bad on the replays.

Irrelevant to my point, which i had yet to make. Dean just learned a Lindros lesson; keep your head up (more so don't admire passes in this case)

If anybody was on top of McAmmond it was because three Ottawa guys jumped Downie right beside him.

it was late... but it goes from being a non-issue interference call to a big deal because he leaves his feet.

people freaking out about the result of a hit rather than the context... you gotta have your head up when you're coming out from behind the net like that.

The hit was late, but there are hits like that going un-called all the time. Now the other issue, is that it was a charge, which I agree with. He should have gotten 5 minutes, but out for the game? I'm not so sure....

Downie was almost horizontal when he landed the hit. Add that to the possibility that it was late and McAmmond is out cold and you can't give him 2 mins.

Under no circumstances can you have that on your team. If Steve Downie keeps this act up it will be a complete circus and will be out of the NHL within 3 years. You simply can't do stuff like this. Look how bad Ben Eager was victimized last year. For no real reason. You can have a tough guy who plays hard and physical with little to no skill and plays smart when he's on the ice (Riley Cote). You cannot have someone who cannot keep their cool on the ice. It is a liability and is why he probably won't play in the NHL this season now (or at least shouldn't)

That play were the guy throws the puck in front of the net and continues behind only to get crushed as he comes out the other side happens every week in the NHL and I don't think I've ever seen it penalized as a late hit. There's no was Downie could know the puck was gone and truth is it was only gone for maybe second before the impact.

Of course it may have been charging. I'm just saying, not late.

5 mins + Game is just crap.

P.S. McGrattan is a piece of **** Boulerice was totally in the right.
