That package wouldn't get it done.

Exaclty, they don't want Motoya. The Rangers would have to include Staal and at least one of Tyutin, Callahan and Prucha. The Flame would need to get at least one NHL player back.

Try Prucha, Staal, Cherepanov and picks.

I wanted Slats to trade up to get him in the '03 draft. Was willing to part with Toots and a pick to get him and some people questioned my sanity...well, that hasnt changed

No denying that. I love him, I'm just super hesitant to give away four first rounders for any one player. Trading prospects is another story, since right now we have so many. It might not make sense to anyone, but it's just how I feel .

That's pretty fair, although I probably wouldn't do it. I'd much rather take the risk and see what Staal amounts to. Also, we need Cherepanov to fill in the first two lines next year as the aging vets start retiring.

I'd love to have Phaneuf, but I don't see us bringing in another big name player until Jagr and Straka are done.

With the Ranger depth in the minors, it might not be a bad move, if you believe Phaneuf has the ability to be a future Pronger. It's a lot easier to draft good forwards with 2nd and 3rd rounders then it is defenseman. Now, I must admit, I don't get to see him play much, so I'm just going on what they say and write about him as a player. And the Rangers have no problem signing UFA's, so that's another route they can take due to losing 4 first rounders.

^he's as good as pronger right now. I'd give away 4 first rounders in a heartbeat. We have depth and can afford it. Plus imagien a d conssiting of THE DION, Staal, Girardi, Toots, Sauer and Sanger.......in front of Henrik. You could put tie domi on the first lien and still win.
