Possible Topics:
  1. Zherdev
  2. Brassard makes the team?
  3. Changes in the clubhouse
  4. Cannon: Fire or Fake?

Looking for email to the show. Anybody?
3 and 4 are for Priest, Hitchcock has nothing to do with it. Please get used to the fact that this is the head coach show, not the GM or President show....

I'm interested to see what he says about Zherdev. Hopefully he doesn't get benched for 1 bad practice like everyone wants to see.

1. What is the status of Modin, Peca, Foote and Norrena?
2. What kind of team building activities have been taking place.
3. How many players on the final roster and how many forwards vs. D.

Who would he rather punch in the face Ricordati or Hooley?

Hey....it's Hitch's show, he can hold forth on anything he wants.

Maybe he'll let something slip, huh?

And btw...let's quit buying into this line that Hitch only has input on what happens between the lockerroom and the ice. Of course he's going to be humble and say that, but everybody, including Howson and Priest know that he's got FAR MORE more experience than his two bosses. He's the man ...and should be. If they aren't seeking his opinion about all things on this club, they should be!

I'd like to put Hooley in the hospital. When he's not dishing hockey, Ricordoti's sarcasm is sort of entertaining.

So someone else does like that guy.

Truth be told, I really donít mind either guy that much. Hooley, in particular, is great with OSU IMO.
I donít like it when they talk hockey though, particularly Ricordati who seems to embrace his lack of hockey intelligence as a badge of honor despite the presence of an NHL team in town.

Hitch is calling in from the Team Building. "not immediate results" ..pays off in playoffs and versus tough opponents.

Surprising leaders emerging? (in team building exercises) Yes, but doesn't want to say who. Some young guys stepped up.

email thebigshow@1460thefan.com

Dressing stronger lineup for Carolina. Bigger plans went out window when veterans got injured. "A little bit in survival mode" up until Carolina. Held on to younger prospects through team building because of injuries.

Pascal getting better, more solid with every start. Position/comfort in net is better.
Of all guys who have come back he's been one of the most impressive because of his getting up to speed. Shows his commitment.

Now to the phones....

Hejda same role always played throughout career, defending d-man, against best player on other team, with Foote or Klesla maybe

Brookbank, starting to grow, elite AHL, last game better, significant depth player

Beech, really impressive, moving puck, strong 2-way, challenging for spot

Peca, great player, disappointed not been healthy but will play significant role

Novotny, we know what his role was in BUFF, 3rd line checking, lot of penalty killing, same role here, would like to expand but...

WHAT DSL JUST SAID...

Injured Vets are all skating today, except Modin -expected by Saturday.
Peca MAY play in final preseason game. Foote "we'll see".

Duvie was surprised by fastness of game, was behind. Last game he played very well.

Answering John's (shelf?) email about guys we signed offseason:
Hedja -role player -good against major scorers (Iginla, Sedins)
Brookbank -starting to grow, significant depth player
Beech -really impressed us. Skilled and now finding speed, puck, 2way game. Really challenging for spot on the team.
Peca -great player.
Novotny -his role 3rd line checking role, PK just like he was in Buffalo.

Beech will center Nash/Vybes in next game.

Rims: Russell...is he on the team?
Hitch: Not for me to say yet but he's been arguably our best defenseman.

These next 3 games will decide the fate. We'll be playing against NHL rosters. Can they hold their own?

Brule is the one who's been most impressive, from last year to this year.
Looks like a regular NHL player now.

In order to be a 100 pt playoff team, we needed to "correct 70 goals" either by scoring them, or not letting them in. D-team play and PK has to improve. Mentions PK a second time. Went cold in stretches.

"If we allow a lot less goals, we'll score a lot more." "Team defense"

Here comes the ZHERDEV email.
""Working hard but not creating offensively.
Trying to correct: use his legs more."" "guilty of overthinking"
"flatfooted" Getting confidence back doesn't happen overnight.
Hitch is being very careful in his words.

"Scott and I work together on the roster til it gets to 23 players, then its up to the coaches." "Partnership" Even when Doug was here. Absolutely zero interference about who was in the lineup (re: Doug)

Scott and I think alike. Same system, values.

Rick's conditioning is incredible. Going to be a REALLY dominant player.

YOU GUYS take it from here...I"m tired of typing.

Edit: This time Jfan gets in first, good work, I won't dup-icate effort.

Big ups to Russell, hedged bets on saying he'll make team but I think he wanted to say it

happy with other kids as well

spoke especially well of Brule, come a long way, looks like an NHL player

What a change in the show this year. Less fluff and more information in 30 minutes today than half the shows last season. Thanks Hitch.

Hitch on Z "Working hard but not creating on offense like we'd like him to" and "Nikki has to use his speed more" "He's been knifing through players in practice"

Time to trade him while he still has value. How about Bourdon
