3 and 4 are for Priest, Hitchcock has nothing to do with it. Please get used to the fact that this is the head coach show, not the GM or President show....
Hey....it's Hitch's show, he can hold forth on anything he wants.
Maybe he'll let something slip, huh?
And btw...let's quit buying into this line that Hitch only has input on what happens between the lockerroom and the ice. Of course he's going to be humble and say that, but everybody, including Howson and Priest know that he's got FAR MORE more experience than his two bosses. He's the man ...and should be. If they aren't seeking his opinion about all things on this club, they should be!
I'd like to put Hooley in the hospital. When he's not dishing hockey, Ricordoti's sarcasm is sort of entertaining.
So someone else does like that guy.
"Every game, every point is a necessity." -- Ty Conklin, January 2007
"I'll have a chance to compete for the post of first issue. This is the most important thing." -- Sergei Bobrovsky, June 2012
Truth be told, I really donít mind either guy that much. Hooley, in particular, is great with OSU IMO.
I donít like it when they talk hockey though, particularly Ricordati who seems to embrace his lack of hockey intelligence as a badge of honor despite the presence of an NHL team in town.
Dressing stronger lineup for Carolina. Bigger plans went out window when veterans got injured. "A little bit in survival mode" up until Carolina. Held on to younger prospects through team building because of injuries.
Pascal getting better, more solid with every start. Position/comfort in net is better.
Of all guys who have come back he's been one of the most impressive because of his getting up to speed. Shows his commitment.
Injured Vets are all skating today, except Modin -expected by Saturday.
Peca MAY play in final preseason game. Foote "we'll see".
Duvie was surprised by fastness of game, was behind. Last game he played very well.
Answering John's (shelf?) email about guys we signed offseason:
Hedja -role player -good against major scorers (Iginla, Sedins)
Brookbank -starting to grow, significant depth player
Beech -really impressed us. Skilled and now finding speed, puck, 2way game. Really challenging for spot on the team.
Peca -great player.
Novotny -his role 3rd line checking role, PK just like he was in Buffalo.
Rims: Russell...is he on the team?
Hitch: Not for me to say yet but he's been arguably our best defenseman.
These next 3 games will decide the fate. We'll be playing against NHL rosters. Can they hold their own?
Brule is the one who's been most impressive, from last year to this year.
Looks like a regular NHL player now.
In order to be a 100 pt playoff team, we needed to "correct 70 goals" either by scoring them, or not letting them in. D-team play and PK has to improve. Mentions PK a second time. Went cold in stretches.
"If we allow a lot less goals, we'll score a lot more." "Team defense"
Here comes the ZHERDEV email.
""Working hard but not creating offensively.
Trying to correct: use his legs more."" "guilty of overthinking"
"flatfooted" Getting confidence back doesn't happen overnight.
Hitch is being very careful in his words.
"Scott and I work together on the roster til it gets to 23 players, then its up to the coaches." "Partnership" Even when Doug was here. Absolutely zero interference about who was in the lineup (re: Doug)
Scott and I think alike. Same system, values.
Rick's conditioning is incredible. Going to be a REALLY dominant player.
