I was watching the game on the Rogers feed and saw Upshall get hit, more collision type, in the 3rd period near the Flyers blue line as he skated across ice toward center. Probably around the 10 min mark, but I was talking with my wife and can not say for sure when in the period. He went down and when he got up he was holding his arm as if hurt as he skated off. The camera angle was from behind and I thought at first he looked as it was a shoulder injury since his right shoulder was slumped as he held his right arm across his body. He also took at least one shift after that and I was thinking he was okay. Unfortunately that was not the case. My guess is that is when he was hurt.

I thought he could be called up on an emergency basis.

werd.. if he had played the first 9 games with us he wouldnt be able to play with his junior team IIRC

UPDATE! Umberger is out with a broken pinky finger and is getting surgery tommorow, and Randy Jones has a hip flexor.....Seriously McCrossin has to go.

Every player on the team it seems has been hurt someway almost every game for the last 4 years.

Downie has officially made the team now that Umberger is out. Dowd also.

1. While I'm in the "Downie should get suspended for his hit on McAmmond" camp, I'm also in the "if you slash a guy and injure him, you should also get suspended" camp. There's no place in the sport for whacking a guy across the wrists. None - and the Flyers [and the rest of the league] should be asking the NHL to crack down on this stuff.

2. With the Flyers pressed up against the cap, Upshall probably gets put on LTIR [joining Primeau and likely Rathje unless he's had a miracle recovery], .... the Flyers salary cap situation is going to be a ***** to figure out this year, too.

3. Once returned to his junior team, a player cannot be brought back until the end of his junior team's season ... meaning Giroux can't be recalled.

Can someone get me a link to at the least the Downie hit, maybe the others too? I haven't seen one around

This is ridiculous.

I think it's absolutely ****ing hilarious how many people are proving Donald Brashear right. What a bunch of whiny little *****es this board and every outlet for fans is filled with. I'm not a fan of headshots, I'm not condoning giving out concussions, but there has been far, FAR worse things in this league. I haven't seen this much outrage since the Bertuzzi thing. I think Chris Simon's despicable act received less attention.

Yes, but two injuries to a deep forward corps hardly constitutes an emergency. Another 10 forwards would have to go down with long term injuries for Giroux to be called up. I believe Edmonton had to call a defenseman up from junior last year because they had like one NHL defenseman at the time.

Canít see him coming back in 2 weeks. Broke my right wrist 4 times, left twice each one was at least 6 weeks. 4 weeks probably. Assuming stevie wonder receives a suspension that forces you to dress one of bouerlice or cotre which doesnít help much. Cant wait ti see how the genius coach shuffles his lines. I have such a sick feeling about Stevens as head coach. I cant see many positives with him as coach.

Does it matter? Most people around here are hypocritical jokes. All the team Canada fans talked so much trash about the Sutter hit on Cherpy, just good old Canadien style hockey. Same with the Tucker hit on Peca, another hit that was deemed incredible in Canada. Remember Tucker on Kapanen. See what that moron Blake said, lol. Yet he stood behind Simon last year. BUT (this is the favorite word of most fans after all) he was his teammate and had to stick up for him, lol. Even with a clip of it happening you'll here the "but that was after the Downie incident" or whatever else reasoning they can apply. Jokes I say.

If this is the piece of evidence being used for the Upshall injury, I'm not sure where the whole "slash to the wrist" theory is coming from. It sounds like it was a collision. I was at the game and didn't see anything at all so it definitely wasn't anything blatant.

Before we all go into panick mode, lets let the first few games of the regular season happen and then go from there. Hopefully both guys can get back as soon as possible and whoever the fill ins are play up to standards.

A lot of hockey is still yet to be played.
