I hope he announces a mid-November return. Considering that he only took a week of regular season play to decide to announce something, thats what I'm guessing.

Hockey isn't the same without Scott.

I love how people are still asking these questions, as if someone won't post it unless they ask.

Consider Niedermayer's and Selanne's NHL careers as a hospital patient . . .

. . . time of death, June 7th, 2007.

What a way to go.

Just my guess.

[rumor]

There is a rumor going around that both Neids and Salanne are now skating. Now I dont know if this means that they are getting back in shape to make a return or if they are skating for the fun of it. Teemu did say not to long ago that he had no desire to strap on the skates and hit the ice.

They are skating in a quiet not so popular rink. Maybe to keep down the hype?

If this is infact the case and they are really infact skating to get back in shape I would venture to guess that maybe mid November for a return.

[/rumor]

I saw two guys working out at the rink with paper bags over their heads.
I will keep investigating and report later.

There was an article on the ducks official site from a finnish paper, one fin poster said the article stated Teemu was 'practicing'

Can anyone here translate the article from this site?(Pepper?)

Lol, translating this is not easy much easier to type in finnish or english, than translating from english to finnish or wise versa! :x

Teemu Seläntees decision about his career is still undecided.

- Latest when contract can be made is start of new year, Says Teemu Seläntees agent Ari Lehto. (ATTE KAJOVA)

Do you think selänne will continues his career?

- Desicion is really hard. Teemu is still considering his decision, Says Ari Lehto to Iltalehti

Ducks hope for quick decision

Anaheim waits for Selännes desicion. He was their leader scorer last season and he played fine in playoffs, powder wasnt wet :p

- Team doesnt pressure selänne in desicsion making, allthought they wish the desicion would come quickly, Lehto knows.

Teemu isnt "slacking"

Selänne has been in Anaheim with his familya after summer. 37 year old star hasnt been only focusing to golf and watersports isntead he has kept himself in good shape.

- Teemu works out on ice and off ice. He is in good shape, but since he hasnt played in long time it would take around 4 weeks to get the timings and such right, Lehto knows

Selänne needs to make decision before febuary because its the final day when NHL-rosters cant be changed anymore

- If he continues, it pratcially means that the contract needs to be done in january right after new year

Thats great Moose, only problem is youre in Canada.

I would tell you and all the others where they are skating but what would be the point? Once people find out and they start to "flock" to the rink then it becomes a distraction. Let them practice/train in peace.

There would be no point because they would move to another deserted rink

Not deserted but more like looks ghetto from the outside. I have never been in the place and judging by the outside i have no desire to.

Better start sending some security with them. Between the report in the fin paper and what you are saying I am inclined to believe atleast Teemu is doing on ice stuff..

Sorry fraud,

There are a handful of rinks in Socal. The minute either step on the ice it will be reported. So produce a picture, video or anything else. Otherwise, you are full of crap/.

LOL Secret skating in quiet? What is the point? Who cares if they skate? Do they keep the lights out? Why would it be a secret, liar? LOL

Your original post read "There is a rumor going around that both Neids and Salanne are now skating." After being challenged, you now KNOW firsthand where they are skating but simply won't reveal it for fear of exposing the secret location? Why didn't you say so originally? Why didn't you just post that you KNOW they are skating in an unpopular rink and you can't reveal the location. Haha maybe Ecklund should make this an E5 because you have reported it. Right? Hopefully Eck will not misspell Selanne (see your original post).

I promise if you email this secret location to me or the moderators, I will arrange to keep the hoards of fans that show up to watch these two work out (in secret, in the dark) away. I will personally contact Aeryn, Wildcat, Mrs. Bevo, Dougie and the three others (who care) to stay away from this top secret rink. That should cover the entire crowd interested enough to show up (in the dark, underground, secret location). LOL

We all appreciate you guarding the secret location, so I ask, why would you post this information on a public bulletin board if you are truly an insider of this sensitive information? Hmm, I think I saw another person in the stands at the rink with a paper bag on his head, was that you? LOL

BTW, Teemu has been golfing lately. (Coto) That is on the grass genius.
(PS: He is shooting in the low eighties.)

Darren Dreger had this up today on TSN.com

Quote:
Scott Niedermayer hasn't entirely made up his mind as to whether to return to the NHL or not, however he intends to force that decision in the coming weeks.

Niedermayer believes he needs to establish a personal deadline and won't say when that deadline is, other than to admit a decision on his playing future will be made well before Christmas.

The veteran defenseman say he has been working out, staying in shape and is just starting to intensify his routine.

Perhaps a hint, at least partially, his decision has been made, although he will not state that for the record.

The fact the Ducks are a sub-500 hockey team, struggling to regain their Stanley Cup form hasn't been lost on Niedermayer and he may feel a sense of responsibility to help Anaheim defend.

There are 5 or 6 ice rinks within 10-15 minutes of my house, Moose. A handful, you say? Please don't make ignorant comments. You don't live here, and clearly don't realize how much ice hockey has been growing the past 20 years.
