McKee out 4-6 Weeks

St. Louis Blues Sep 27, 2007, 3:58 PM EDT
Mckee ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today that defenseman Jay McKee will be sidelined the next 4-to-6 weeks due to a fractured metatarsal in his right foot. McKee suffered the injury in last night’s game at Minnesota.

McKee was examined by Blues team doctor Rick Wright in St. Louis today. The injury will not require surgery.

Talk about dissappointing. I was really anxious to see him play......well enough about Jay.
So who gets his spot? Tanabe (sp?) Polak, Wagner
I really do not see Wagner getting the spot.
Thoughts?

I'd like to see Polak myself. Not quite sure why Woywitka's not playing up to snuff.

I'll say Polak, and if he doesn't get it done, he'll be swapped out for Woyrika. Does his salary count against the cap when he's out?

Hope I'm wrong but I think we'll rotate Backman and Tanabe and dress Walker in McKee's spot. I don't like it either, but I could see it happening.

This makes me mad!

I was hoping McKee would have a turn around season.

McKee always gets hurt against the Wild. That's too bad since he's a huge part of the defense.

Here we go again. Jay McKee is hurt yet again to start the season off, for yet the second year in a row. Oops he did play about 5 minutes in the opener last year. I am sure glad we didn't give this guy a long high priced contract, like 4 years at 4mil or something like that. Ohh wait a second we did.

This just means that Tanabe "The useless 1", will get a slot on this team. When the younger defensmen like Polak, Wagner, and Woywitka should get the first opportunity to fill that spot.

But here is to looking forward to Oct 4.

He got hit with a point shot in the second period. He looked to be in a lot of pain, but shook it off in a few seconds and was able to finish his shift. He was limping on his way to the bench. I wasn't watching the Blues very closely, so I can't tell you if he tried to come back after that, but I would assume that he didn't. I didn't even notice that he was gone to be honest, and didn't know that he suffered a serious injury on that play until now.

From JRs blog, it looks like Wagner is the guy to beat.

IIRC, he missed alot of time with the Sabres as well. 97-98, 03-04, 04-05, and last season. Seems very injury prone.

I rather doubt that. I could see the reverse. Backman playing with Walker and Tanabe rotating. I think Polak stays up now.

Brewer, Backman, Jackman, EJ, Salvador, Polak w/ Tanabe/Woywitka and Walker rotating.
