I don't think anyone really knows for sure, but it looks like tonight against Minny it will start out looking like this. Keep in mind there are a couple players not dressed.

Kariya-Weight-Boyes

Rucinsky-Tkachuk-Backes

Stempniak-McClement-Mayers

King-Johnson-Glumac

This might be Glumac's last crack at the NHL. I hope he isn't counting on some sweet feeds from RJ. I hope he gives it hell.

Christ does Martin Kariya have speed to spare. And he's a smart player. Wowee

Perron has looked great, it would be nice to see him stick.

I'm really not sure, I just saw the game last night and I was impressed. He was able to do somet things with the puck that no one else was willing to try to do. And speed. I'm still shaking my head. He just flies. Paul Kariya of the 90's. First three steps, hes just GONE.

And a smart player. Throwing pucks to the net, using his speed to create chances, and not doing anything that would get him in trouble.

I would doubt it, IMHO. He has everything but the one thing that can't be taught: size. I know some little dudes have made it, but MAN, is that guy small. He sure got tossed around a lot v. Hawks.

He's definitely got the speed, and he's got some playmaking ability, but I am also not sure...I watched the game on my computer last night and he was getting knocked off the puck an awful lot in the corners and along the boards. The assets that he brings are enticing, but I honestly don't know if he has the strength/balance to put them to consistent use in this league.

Doubtful, but you may see him when Perron goes back to the Q after his 9 game tryout.

Brad Boyes stat projections this year?

Is he worth taking over Plekanec, Bouchard, or M.Koivu if goals are worth 2pts and assists 1pt?

Thanks!

In a word, Yes.

Boyes will be in the mix on our top 2 lines(as of now he is our #1 RW) so a return to his rookie form is likely.

From interviews w/ Andy Murray recently it sounds like he has pairings of forwards that he wants to keep together (Weight/Boyes, Tkachuck/Backes). If he does this the lineup could look like this:

Kariya - Tkachuck - Backes
Ruchinsky - Weight - Boyes
Stempniak - McClement - Perron
Hinote - R. Johnson - Mayers
Extra: King, M. Johnson/Glumac

Brewer - Salvador
Jackman - E.J.
Backman - Wagner
Extra: Walker

Legace - Toivonen

I would like to see the first power play line be:

kariya - Weight - Boyes
Brewer - EJ

2nd Unit:

Stempniak - Tkachuck - Ruchinsky/Perron
Backman - Wagner

What kind of stats do you think he can put up this year? How was his preseason? First PP unit for sure?

Thanks!

I really like that 3rd line

Perron looked great with Weight the other night.. that could still very well be a possibility

I think Perron's clicking with Weight Saturday earned him the spot for opening night...let's see how long it works out...

If the above-mentioned lines stand, we could face the same issue as earlier in the off-season in another thread (I was too lazy to search it ): the lack of "pure" scorers on Weight's second line. This is by no means a knock on Boyes, yet I'd see him primarily as a playmaker. Conversely, the Tkachuk line appears to have three "scorer" type players, even though Kariya's playmaking skills are not to be denied. Clearly, making line combinations involves more than filling certain roles, and Murray must have spent a few more sleepless nights over them than an outside observer. How do you see that line-up, particularly the roles on the top two lines (Perron on the 3rd is interesting especially if he stays), and perhaps those who had been to pre-season games could throw in (more) comments about chemistry.

I would like to see Kariya and Rucinsky flipped. I thought Weight played well with Kariya. This may create more space for the fragile Rucinsky too. Between Tkachuk and Backes, I think they'll lay off him a bit. I would like Backes and Perron to learn from Rucinsky. I have always been impressed with his position play and good two way hockey.

I would say yes. I'm fairly sure you won't see Phillips or Malik on the PP.

I changed my mind:

Kariya - Tkachuck - Backes
Ruchinsky - Weight - Boyes
Stempniak - McClement - Perron
King - Mayers - M. Johnson
Extra: Hinote, R. Johnson

Brewer - Salvador
Jackman - E.J.

I always thought Backes played awesome on the Stempniak/McClemment line. Perron has played very well with Weight, and Boyes/Kariya/KT should be good.

Dunno. I can't wait to see. I imagine there will be a ton of line flipping for a bit.

What can we expect from Wagner. I followed him in college, but I'm not sure how he will translate to the NHL. I see most people think he will be on the 2nd PP.

Is 6 g 18 a - 24 pts too low ?

I'd guess too high, since I don't think he'll stick around once McKee gets healthy.
