Umm...what's going on with this huge delay with this London game? Lights broke or something?

Its nice to know that the NHL Season opener is being played on smaller ice and they let that chick change the words to the National anthem But whohoo for being able to watch

The Boston Garden had a smaller ice surface as well back in the days before everything had to be the same everywhere and it used to make the game interesting because of the strategy.

Looks like its not just Jackets games that the stripes are calling any little thing. Geese... I like the obstruction crack down and all but some of these calls are redunkculous.

Cammalleri scores the first goal of the NHL season.

She probably forgot some of the words. At least she didn't butcher it. Would you rather have Rosanne Barr or Carl Lewis sing at the CBJ home opener?

Not if Gary Bettman has any say in the matter.

Its being sung in a foreign country. I'm guessing most of us would have a problem with the lyrics to God Save the Queen and might accidentally start singing "My Country 'Tis of Thee".

Except...we routinely play Canadian teams. England doesn't host an American sporting team very often.

I think its funny that to you having family in the military is an excuse to take offense. I've got family sitting out in the desert right now--I think they're worried about more important things than whether some girl in England can sing the Star Spangled Banner.

See your turning this into more then it was ... I just said it bothered me .. I am aloud to be bothered by the fact that someone messed up the National Anthem .

It's kinda cool that since LA is today's "home" team all scoreboard graphics, goal horn/song and PA announcer are all LA's. I suppose tomorrows will be the Ducks.

As far as the National Anthem, we don't have a very easy one folks. I've lived here all my life and if you held a gun to my head and told me to sing our anthem, I'd like to think I would get it right 100%, but I'm not so sure. I do know that I could sing O Canada with no mistakes...it's just easier.

Anyone else think it's weird that after this afternoons "real" game we get back to pre-season games tonight???

Anyone else think Anaheim looks really weak on the ice?

I feel bad for them on 10/5...4 games in 3 days, plus international travel. If they're already having problems in London I can't believe they'll be in top form for us.

First game of the year for them. They'll come out strong tomorrow.

That said, LA looked good especially the 19 year old Bernier.

Still early though.... I remember when we were 2-0-1 at one point last year

Bernier was stellar. He's their future and I'm happy for them.

Anybody else find the HD quality a bit sub-par when showing the game? The direction was also wanting, I thought.

x2

I doubt it was a personal insult against Americans. I can't even count how many times I've heard americas national anthem get screwed up at sporting events in this country. Big deal

Yeah I thought the entire HDNET broadcast was pretty bushleague. Their sound of the game is absolutely pathetic.
