At least for the 2nd game they were pretty dominant for the whole game. They had absolutely no trouble controlling the puck and they put the Kings right where they wanted. Even though they were missing S. Niedermayer and Selanne, they looked absolutely amazing.

Now Kings on the other hand... Man, they have a lot to do...

I missed the boat on these games.....darn it! It sounds like the crowds were decent... And yes, very odd having regular and practice games played on the same day.......

Another apparent setback for Preds fans. I think this is more about political wrangling then anything else, and will eventually be worked out.

Dany Heatley signs a 6 year extension with Ottawa, worth $7.5-8 million per year.

Damn....that's a ton imo..... to much imo! With that kind of money for players the revenues better go up....and if they do so will the cap!

Man.....Detroit looks tough folks....I know the score is tied 2-2 but the first goal by the Ducks from Bert was luck imo...

Rafalski is amazing for a little guy.....

These teams just seem to go at a faster pace than I'm used to seeing from the CBJ. Hope that's different starting Friday.

Personally, I think, Detroit is the most over-rated team this year (San Jose being a close second). Neither of those teams improved in the off-season and yet they are the darlings of the hockey cognocenti.

If I were to hazzard a guess, I'll wager that the team that wins the Cup may come out of the East this year. Refs seem to be cracking down even more on penalties, which may open the game up and allow the offense-first strategy to pay off. Ottawa is hot to get back to the Finals, but the Rangers and Pens are both much-improved. I think the Rangers are a team that's now built for the playoffs. Particularly if they find some way to imrpove their defense, you have to like a team with three of the most clutch playoff players of all time--Jagr, Drury and Gomez.

I'd really love to know how that wasn't a penalty on Zetterberg there on that Getzlaf half breakaway. He had his stick parallel to the ice and clear hook at the end -- that's a call every time on the Jackets.

Don't know but I agree...at the last second his stick went up...looked like a crosscheck if nothing else....his stick was not on the ice or stick to stick, it was stick to body. I think it was done so late the refs let it slide..?

the wings look like they are all set for another strong season, only to get bounced early from the playoffs. HA

The Rangers come out firing, as expected.

And Nashville is showing that maybe they aren't as bad as everyone expected. Maybe.

Panthers were up a goal with 14 minutes left and lost by 3. That's impressive stuff.

from TSN.caChicago's Martin Havlat, whose career has been marked by a series of injuries, hurt his shoulder on a punch in a scrum late in the third period. Savard said Havlat was injured trying to protect himself, and Havlat - who was sent for X-rays - was wearing a sling. He will have an MRI on the shoulder Friday to determine the severity of the injury.
That's embarassing.

St. Louis lost to Phx.

Ohio boy Jeff Hamilton out-shined Crosby getting 1 goal and 3 points in the 'Canes win.

Is it me, or do the Preds looks scary good in their first two games? 9 GF with only 1 GA. Both games were at home, but they were against the Stars and the Avs, supposedly high quality teams.

The Preds do look very good, but I think the Stars aren't as big as they've been pumped up to be. I think they got lucky to get into the playoffs last year, and if Turco doesn't carry them on his back, they're not going to make it this time around.

Speaking of the Preds, they only had 13,000 fans last night, about 75% of their capacity. The Monsters drew 15,000. lmfao.

Yeah - that is quite funny.

However - reality is the Jacks sold out numerous nights too and eventually failed in the end.....so we'll see.
