Man...I know he's good on the 3rd....but Clark really look nice on this line with Backstrom and Nylander.

I agree, I think they'll give Fleichmann the chance to prove himself but if he can't Clark will be moved up to the second line and Steckel to the third.

would be nice if someone would pot one of Backstrom's feeds, he's made 3 great passes so far

Looks like one of those games where one team carries the play but just can't buy a goal.

Should be this...

Ovechkin - Nylander - Kozlov
Semin - Backstrom - Clark
Pettinger - Steckel - Gordon

Once they trust Backstrom with the center position that is the line-up I expect to see.

I don't really have that much faith in Fleishmann, but I'm still hoping for him.

Not a big fan of Gordon on the wing...it'd be a waste of his strengths.

Well switch him and Steckel...no biggie. Boudreau did it all the time 2 years ago in the Calder Cup season.

Well they would probably have Steckel take the draw, then switch positions with Gordon.

yep, on paper it doesn't matter, its all about the line matching. Have Gordon take faceoffs on his side, steckel take them on his side.

Wow...talk about enamoured with the shiny new player (Steckel). Gordon had a breakout season as the 3rd line C and now he should be bumped from his spot for a guy who hasn't made the team yet?

Clark demotion syndrom all over.

I wish we could post pictures on the official boards, I'd be doing that quite a bit on there if we could.

Gordon, to me, is the third-most important guy on this team and its success. He doesn't get a lot of exposure or flashy stats, but the guy makes everybody better around him and he does all the little things that put the team in position to win. He's a better player at center, and he's firmly established himself in that position with both his preseason and last year's play.

As Strung said, he and Steckel played very well together as a defensive unit during Hershey's Calder Cup run, so it's logical to them together again. But Steckel still has to prove that he can play against the NHL's top lines in meaningful games, 'cause that will be his assignment.

I really like Mike Green's game. He has excellent hockey sense and a big heart. He will make mistakes that lead to chances against but he will learn to pick his spots. He already has improved at that. And he is good about rushing back when things go awry. His puck control is excellent.

Jurcina, Green and Poti all looked solid. I didn't see enough of the other guys to have an opinion one way or the other. Schultz looked fine on the 4-5 shifts I saw of him.

Backstrom looks really good out there. It'll take him awhile to get fully acclimated to the NHL and the new culture (of course) but it looks like he will be able to do the things he did in the SEL in the NHL. His passing, dangling and puck control are first rate. If he learns to shoot the puck we'll have ourselves a legit 1st line center in a couple years.
