I'd tell you that you should have invested in a Boni puck shooter for your son while he was in Midget. Also, Francois Allaire's goaltending school would have done wonders.

That's sensible and way more polite and respectuous than your previous post about my son, thank you.
Right, so every time he has a bad night, lets reflect back on his better nights. The guy is an inconsistent sieve.
Ziggy, I usually like your posts BUT..W-T-F do you want from him? Yesterday he hadn't a bad night, c'mon. He had a good game, and you can't blame him for any of the goals he allowed. We could say the same about the Dallas game.
I suggest to move this thread to lgk.
It would be appreciated.
LaBarbera looked so bad on the shootout goals. I'm not faulting him for the Getzlaf blast and Miller ran into him on the Marchant goal, but honestly, look how horribly he played the two shootout goals.
I'm not letting the defense off the hook, but I also realize the last line of defense is the goaltender, and LaBarbera isn't a goalie I'm comfortable with to be the last line of defense.
Ok, we'll see about that. I'll make sure to pull this thread up in April. Hell, I'll probably be pulling it up in December. Mark my words - within 2 years you will not see his name on an NHL roster.
I thought I'd save you the time and effort. Here it is (you had to know it was coming).
20th in GAA isn't particularly good, but that's as much a team stat as it is a goalie stat. 11th in s%, over goalies like DiPietro, Nabokov, Miller, Brodeur, Giguère, Khabibulin, Turco - that looks acceptable to me.
Just too bad the thread comes up when Labs goes down. Hope he's back this week.
Are you serious our team isn't playing full 60 mins and they are hanging him out to dry, i think it's our defensemen's fault(Blake,Lubo). They collapse second and third period, Leave Labarbera to get peppered, didn't you hear them say how many shots Labarbera got on him? Out about 40 Labarbera let 3 in and Aubin let 2 in About 10 shots, It's our team not our Goalie.

There is really nothing that I need to say! This thread and Labarbera's performance since coming back for his injury take the words right out of my mouth!

Sorry, but that goal isn't really his fault. It should've been a whistle and he moves b/c he didn't get one and it goes in, what is he supposed to do? Perhaps the forwards should put the puck in the net on any of their 1000 golden chances tonight and they'd still be winning the game.

Ive seen refs blow the whistle a lot faster!! if he would have opened his bloody eyes he would have labs sitting on the puck!! this wasnt his fault.. the second goal was though...
hes what, 0-3? 0-4 since coming back? i think its time to let Ersberg take a shot in the NHL, or sign old man Cujo...cuz even a 40 year old is better than our 27 year old starter

Wow people are ignorant. LaBarbera's save % today: 0.943 and against COL where we lost 4-2 he was a 2nd star and 0.923%. Against DET no doubt he got owned but Detroit is simply a lot better team. If you are going to blame our goalie who had a .943% after this game that is beyond messed up. How about we get some defense and offense.
2.77 GAA (30th in the league), 6 wins(39th in the league) 11 losses (13th worst in the league)
You just named every single team stat. I do not get this forum 80% of the time its how horrid the defence is then 20% the goalie. It is not both, its one and that is the defense.
.911% (19th in the league, ahead of Brodeur, Turco, Giguere, Miller, Ward, Toskala, Kiprusoff)

Its like I'm in the twilight zone when they say JL is not a good goalie...just amazing.

Exactly. And another thing, has Chris Osgood magically become a vezina type goalie (look at his stats)? He's been a mediocre goalie his entire career, playing in front of stacked red wing teams. The same fans probably thought Legace and Huet were career backups. (assessing their talent based on stats probably)
I have my suspicion, that DL is dead set on spending $5+ million on a #1 goalie, so I have my doubts Labs will be around much longer. LaBarbera is the next Legace/Huet.

People here just have no clue about the sport of NHL. They see us losing and right away just say its the goalie. Goalie is the easiest scapegoat out there. Plus people on this board just love to complain and whine (though often there is a valid reason).
