I'm going to assume that this thread is responsible for his play of late, so lets try a "Mike Cammalleri is a terrible goal scorer" thread and see what happens....

The question was never can Jason Labarbera play well for a couple of games. The question was can he play well as a full time starter for a season...

I still think before the trade deadline, if my some minor miracle we are still in it at that time, we make a move for a goalie...

Kinda hard to replace him if JL keeps showing up as one of the 3 stars of the game every game...

LaBarbara played well in the limited portion of the game that I saw, but could the "3 Stars of the Game" be the most meaningless stat ever?

It is not really a stat...it is just a way to acknowledge some of the better players in the games. I don't always agree with them. But I would have to say that LaBarbera was indeed one of the better Kings on the ice for the past 3 games.

How many NHL "Star of the Game" trophies do you have ?????

He is 2 times in a row MVP Goalie in the AHL and move his play over to the NHL.
I think he has some skills.....

I'm guessing just about as many as you do - but that's not really the point, is it?

...and I wasn't saying that LaBarbara hasn't deserved to be one of the 3 stars of the game. The credentials of those chosen to make the selections are often suspect at best and, in many cases, homerism reigns supreme.

Thank you! LaBarbera played very well last night, but the two previous games he could have phoned it in based on how well the Kings played in front of him. He was #1 star three games in a row and probably didn't deserve to be in any of those games. #2 or #3 would have been sufficient. I thought O'Sullivan could have been #1 last night.

I think we should give LaBarbera a chance before wasting some of the great young players the Kings have on another goalie. While the jury is still out, his play of late and his play in the AHL should give Kings management the time they need to decide if a No 1 or No 2 goalie purchase is necessary. And Bernier is not that far away - just because he didn't make it this year doesn't mean he won't. He is not that far away. Remember, there are very few Sidney Crosby or Carey Price's in the world. And Anaheim won last year without either - Ok they that guy, Pronger, he was OK.

I know that bringing this thread back up again is not going to make a lot of you happy, but after watching the "Royal Rebound" last night I just have this to say:
Quote:
Hello all, this is my first post (I have been reading these posts for about one month) and I hope my opinions will shed some light on this matter.
All of those who say that Labs sucks! are 100% correct. I do not make this claim based on just the few handful of games that he has played in the NHL, but yet on his abilities and determination. He is slow from side to side and is technically unsound, always overreacting and out of position and too slow to get back into position to try and stop the rebounds that he always gives up, therefore he is unfit for the NHL. These traits and abilities, or the lack thereof, exudes no confidence from me in him!
Cloutier rightfully and deservedly earned the name "Mr. Beachball" for his performances. I would say that Labs has earned himself the name Flapjack. He is tall and lanky and does not look like he even has control over his own body, sad!
.

We need to make Aubin our #1 and bring up Ersberg as our backup. We also need to trade Blake! Only then will we have a legitimate chance at the playoffs. Without these moves it is going to be an up hill battle all the way, and if we do find ourselves in the playoffs, come April, then we will be too exhausted by the journey to be effective!
