Watching EDM/SJ. Oilers got reamed on a holding call on Souray with 57 secs left. SJ tied it on the PP with 10 secs or so.

The 2nd PP unit of Rucinsky-Boyes-Stempy, Jax-Backman did a lot more to create scoring chances than the 1st unit of Tkachuk-Weight-Kariya, EJ-Brewer.

Agree w/IB that the late shift by Tkachuk-Weight-Kariya looked awfully good.

Anyone catch the Kariya audition with Stempy & Clem at around the 15:00 mark?

Stempy-Clem-Mayers have looked good...energy line had a very nice shift. Brewer hasn't been much of a presence...then again, I've never been a big Brewer fan.

Coach Murray is going to have plenty to work on in practice with respect to integrating the D and forwards. No one seems to know where the other is going to be...there have been several close calls with pucks laying open in space. I'm sure part of this is 1st game jitters / developing chemistry...but I'm not sure we could attribute all of it to this phenomenon.

Does anyone else see William Shatner in a priceline.com commercial and feel the need to go take a shower afterwards?

That was a good pass by Weight to ..... never, mind - it was Bryce Salvador.

Draw on the roughing incident that will go into the books as a 5-minute fighting major.

Didn't score on the breakaway.

ANOTHER penalty off the faceoff.

If Phoenix scores on this PP, you might as well turn the lights off tonight. We're not playing with urgency.

This game is a painful reminder of last year. So far I haven't seen one thing change. Sad.

Meanwhile, it's scary to see Salvador out there on the SH. Ouch.

I feel ill. How many games are left? How many days until we can get the lottery announcement?

(is of course WAY over-reacting -- but still)

We've lost the last 9 season openers, so I'm not that concerned. And hey, we just got one from Tkachuk.

Looks like Murray's 'riot act' did something...

WALT!

hey, is anyone wearing the "C"

how are Backes and Tkachuk looking together? Shades of Walt and Mellanby?

No 'C' 3 'A's . NOt that they haven't looked good together, but no one has really looked 'good'. Flashes here and there, but not a good game by the Blues.

I'm concerned. Home opener losses beside, I've yet to see an improvement over the end of last year. Sloppy play, overskating the puck, and I'm not sure I've seen a structured breakout yet. Usual Tkachuk trash goal.. I'll take it, but we can't survive on trash. We need something structured, something I was hoping Kariya/Stepniak/Weight were going to provide. Sure, it's overreacting to say they can't or won't, but like I said, I haven't seen any changes yet.

I thought if the puck went out over the bench, it wasn't a penalty.

Then you missed the 2nd half of the season last season because they were on a tear until Legace got injured.

Its one game. The first game. Lets give it to the end of the month before we hit the panic button.

Boynton should get something extra for jumping in unprovoked. That said, Brewer probably cost us the 5-on-3.

Interesting to see how this is going to play out with Brewer rocking Boynton.
