Should Gary Bettman be fired?
Do you think Gary Bettman should lose his job?
I think he has done a terrible job and deserves to look for a new career!

Just a tip.....try not to contradict your first question with the second.

No, because he has done a great job for his employers (the owners).

Fire him.
1. He's managed to alientate a lot of the existing hockey fan base to one extent or another;
2. The popularity of the game in the US keeps diminishing relative to other sports.

No, the league needs some publicity and nothing is better for publicity than a sex symbol like Bettman.

They should get the Governator to be the commissioner of the league.

Surely the Isles have a back-up goalie that could take the job

Conventionl wisdom says yes. Unfortunately he wont be canned anytime soon. Too bad because the NHL has dipped a distant #4 in the US as far as popularity go. There is no reason why the NHL shouldnt be in the same ballpark as the NBA maybe not ahead of it but within shouting distance. The fact that it isnt is bothersome. This is a league with Crosby and Ovy too, ouch. Part of the problem wasnt just the lockout but leadership and lack of sound decisions at the top

Everyone says they hate him, but never give a reason why. Just something I've noticed. If we're talking rules etc, the board of governors and the player-run competition committee make those decisions. I personally think the cap and revenue sharing is the best thing to happen to the league, and frankly anyone in a small market or with a struggling franchise should agree.

No. Don't like he guy, but he has made SOME good decisions, and the bad choices he has made aren't solely his decisions...he has consultants and such, I'm sure that should also take some of the blame for his poor choices.

I think he gets far too much blame then he deserves (rule changes, new jerseys, expansion, etc) aren't all his fault, but I also thinks he's failed in the area that he's responsible for which is marketing the league. So, yes. I'd like to see what someone new could do.

Yes, in my opinion he should have been canned long ago. Not a Bettman fan here.

Garth would do a much better job than Bettman, I can tell you that... at least he is smart AND loves the game.

They should approach Eric Bischoff about being Bettman's successor.
