Legace??

Was out last night and missed the Blue/Yotes game. Got him as my #2 goalie on my pool squad. Was wondering how he played? Looks like Yotes threw alot of rubber his way and he only gave up 3 goals but gotta be honest, though this was Phoenix home opener, I thought this would be a game Blues would win. Was Legace the problem(ie....soft goals) or was it simply a not so good game by is mates in front of him. Any insights would be appreciated.

IMHO, Legace didn't let in a bad goal last night, and actually played very well...made some excellent saves & was solid on some in-tight chances.

1st goal was on a second rebound with a pigpile of players sliding through the crease.

2nd goal was a nice turnaround snipe from the top of the circle, just as a Phoenix PP was expiring...Manny looked to be partially screened.

3rd goal was an in-close 2-on-1 that Brewer played into a 2-on-0...soft pass across the top of the crease to Winnik, who had an empty net. Perhaps Manny could have played the pass, but he was probably rightfully expecting Brewer to break it up.

It was a disappointing loss, but whaddayagonnado. It's going to take a few games for our lineup to solidify and start building some chemistry, methinks.

Actually the 1st goal was off the 3rd rebound! Manny stopped the first two shots while getting plowed by one of his own guys, but the phoenix guy still scored by flipping the puck while on his knees. Definitely a bad breakdown on the blues defense.

The second goal would be the only questionable goal, but he was screened by stempniak and probably didnt see the puck.

The third goal was from a nice quick pass on a 2-on-1 that manny had no chance on.

Thanks guys for the replies....I like what I read....I happen to like Legace quite a bit this season and feel Blues D is quite formidable in front of him despite the loss of McKee.

So from the sounds of it fellas, seems like Legace played well last night and as I suspected, his poor preseason peformance would not be a precurser for his regular season. Yes, its only one game but like you guys are I'm guessing are thinking, a healthy Legace this season puts up some pretty nice numbers and should help Blues win more games than last year and potentially be a bubble playoff team....no?

yes, except many expect us to be in the playoffs, not a bubble team.

Saying many is more than a little bit biased. Most predictions I've read have us as a bubble team. Very few have us in the playoffs as a sure-thing.

Legace owns us so I'm hoping it's Toivonen.

I hope Toivonen starts tonight. The Kings are a relatively weak team, and Legace looked okay in the first game. This is a good game for Toivonen to show what he can do, with little pressure.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Toivonen, but I expect Legace to get the start. Murray probably wants to get him enough action to get him solidly in the groove.

I would hope Legace.

The Kings are only weak in goaltending. They're actually quite scary offensively.

It's 50/50... but you can curve numbers any way you'd like to

Is he officially starting?

Then I take back my statement. We're gonna have a hard time with this game... hopefully Kings have jetlag.

Legace: starting.
Perron: not playing. [Hinote is the healthy scratch, not because he played like crap - because he didn't.]

If we're having a GDT, someone crank it up.

Since this one seems dead, how about you Blues fans join us on the Kings board ? Our GDTs are fairly lively.
