Kozak and Busto released from Charlotte

ESPN reported that Kozak was recalled. Any truth to that? I can't seem to find it anywhere else.

I could see Renney looking to add some toughness to the lineup as a deterrent, but Kozak?

A goon line may be insane if Dubi is scratched.

Kozak-Hollweg-Orr... could be damaging to the Isles

its probably an error

It's probably an error. Never believe anything ESPN reports. MAYBE Hartford recalled him, MAYBE. But why would the Rangers recall him, makes no sense.

yea, i agree... it's probably an error. I can't see them calling up Kozak ahead of a guy like Bourett, who brings as much energy & grit as Kozak with way more offensive upside.

... although, if this somehow does end up being an authentic move by the Rangers, it will be one weird move.

I saw him play when he was with the Memphis (now Mississippi) Riverkings of the CHL. He was sent down from Charlotte apparently for lackluster play and for having some differences with the coach. I liked what I saw from him - he threw a few good hits, and he can really grind it out in front. He is not afraid to drop the gloves, either. He's not the fastest on skates though.

EDIT:

http://riverkings.com/community/board/

Go to the first discussion forum and look at the thread on Kozak. That must be an error on ESPN's part.

What kind of trade...

can be brewing that would send Kozak to New York from Charlotte via an even lower league.

100% has to be a mistake. The guy is a crap fighter with no skills. There is no way that he would be recalled instead of Byers or Fritch. Both have the same cap hit and can at least fight. ESPN sucks I bet the Pack recalled him

Rick Kozak? His name came up in the prospects thread a while back and I was astonished to see that he was even a part of our organization at this point.

So where the hell is Busto going? He's under NHL contract as far as I know.

So Kozak went from...

being recalled by the Rangers to being released by the Checkers. Interesting turn of events, but that seems a bit more like it.

Kozak is loaned to Mississippi of the CHL and Busto was sent to Hartford because he is injured.

Yes i have seen him fight and lose multiple times and I saw him play in games last season in Hartford during there training camp vs the Sound Tigers and Phantoms. He is lazy and just not a NHL or AHL player.

I'm not optimistic, but no one liked Dan Girardi enough to draft him. And look where he is now.
