Bring back Nylander-its a good idea

Think about it...i'm not saying right now, but at some point in the near future. Mara's not playing anyway, we can send him down and his salary won't count against the cap, then we can make a trade for nylander at some point this season and squeeze him in.
This season and yo gotta figure at least two more after this one, he's playing with jagr and either hossa or straka. Each combo has had success at the nhl level. If Jagr retires and Nylander has a year left and you feel he's no longer important to this team, you can just send him down, no cap hit.....remember who our owner is.
Think about the next 3 years, having nylander, gomez and drury as your top 3 centers.

yes...i know we're only 3 games in.

Have you lost your mind? Seriously, Nylander is signed through 2010. We're not going to trade for him. Do you really want him back in 4 years? Why would we want a 40 year old Nylander after Jagr is gone? Give me one good reason.

Oh god, not happening. We have enough play makers as it is, we need a top flight forward that can put it in the net on nights like these. Jagr used to be that forward but he's lost his scoring touch to some extent

I kinda wish we signed Nylander for a year just to play with Jagr...but no way do I want him till 2010. Plus we cant have Drury or Gomez on the 3rd line playing 12 minutes.

We never should have let Nylander leave. His chemistry with Jagr was something special. Unfortunately that is water under the bridge now and I can't see any scenario where he comes back. As Sean Connery said to Indiana Jones in the Last Crusade..."Let it go Indiana....Let it go"

I'm really surprised it took three games to see this stupid thread.

The Rangers media guide should take a note from the Hitchhikers guide and put a bold-faced DON'T PANIC on the cover.

Even without the concerns about Nylander's current contract, as long as Sather is running the team it will never, ever happen. And even then, there are concerns about the contract....

Agreed... Drury and Gomez will be here for Years and will be great to build around with our kids...

the Nylander-Jagr connection, while great, only had a year or two left and Nylander wanted more then that.... so thats that....

i was all for bringing him back, but not with what he wanted in terms of contract length..

then again.. I wasnt for signing big name high priced talent either... but if I had to take a lesser of two evils its the Drury and Gomez contracts over Nylander's deal any day of the week and twice on sunday

Why exactly would Washington let him go? The signed him as a long-term solution at center.

When they win 4 games in a row this thread will all be forgotten. Drury looks like him and Jagr are developing a significant amount of chemistry. Gomez looks like he's grabbing that stick a little too tight(see blown open net last night). If there's one thing that's been pissing me off for a while it is Malik's inability to make a quick outlet pass. Numerous times last night Drury was cutting up the midle and Malik didn't move the puck.

Again and again and again: Nylander wanted more years than three.

Signing him for 3 years was NOT an option.

Yeah what did he get4, 1 whole year more. i dont think NYR wanted to sign him for more than one or 2, so he could have been had at 3 years with the right deal. thats my opinion and it will stick.

I think 3 years was too much for Nylander. Do you really want him when he's 38?

I find the whole, "I would have signed him to a two year contract" or "I would have signed him to a one year contract" musings really strange. I'm fairly sure that Slats tried that. Nylander wanted a longer deal. So he wasn't signing and 1or 2 year deal.

There was/is nothing wrong with the moves the Rangers made. Just relax and be patient.

He has a nice long contract in DC, where both he and his large family likes to live.

And he has a nice new role as 'daddy' to young Nicklas Bäckström.

The chance of getting him back is between extremely slim to none.

Can we trade for a top, so when its the first lines shift, Jagr just spins it at center ice and we can all sit back and enjoy Nylanders greatest skill...
