Colorado @ Chicago

Should I be the official thread starter for games? Avs could be in tough tonite if Arnason keeps up his point scoring streak.

The goaltenders are Philippe Sauve and Michael Leighton...Selanne is out for tonight...1-0 Blackhawks on a goal by Scott Nichol.

dear god. 3-0 hawks. whats going on with the avs. it seems like they play a passive game when kariya comes back. this team's mentality has got to change. are they so arrogant to believe that if they throw their sticks on the ice against chicago they've got it made regardless of what happens. jeezus.

The Avs have played like crap, but two of those goals were directly the fault of Sauve. I think Granato needs to bring in Aebischer to start the second period.

Yep, Sauve has let in VERY weak goals.

I don't think Aebisher will be put in since he played yesterday and also the direction the game is going.

Oh I think you have to make the goaltending move, Aebischer has played in back to back games before this season. Sauve obviously doesn't have it tonight. 3-0 may be impossible to come back from for alot of teams, but the Avs have the talent to do it as long as they put some heart and grit into it.

It's not just Sauve. I looked at the shot charts.

16-5 CHI

Avs down 4-2 going into the second intermission. Avs pulled within one but than Mark Bell scores on a great setup from Zhamnov. Granato decided to keep Sauve in the game and he did come up with some good saves earlier in the second period. I still think the Avs can come back, but that Bell goal could be a back breaker.

I wouldn't say that was a great set-up by Zhamnov, it looked like he was shooting and it took a weird bounce right to Bell, who had the entire net to shoot at. I'd be very surprised if Zhamnov meant to pass that puck to Bell.

I admit I wasn't paying close attention to the play. I looked up and saw the puck coming to Bell as he put it in the empty net. I figured from the angle that Zhamnov's intention was to pass.

Avs pull within one with a sweet back hander by Liles.

Avs just tied it up!!!!!!

I think Skrastins may have gotten the goal.

Ferraro is talking about how Skrastins is a pleasant suprise for the Avs.

Suprise? Maybe for those who haven't followed him at all and just look at stats. He's doing exactly what most every Preds fan expected him to do.

Congrats to him! It's great for him to come out of the woodwork and get the recognition he deserves. It's ashame he wasn't recognized for his work with the Preds.

Wooo...Tanguay takes a dumb penalty...and then comes back to score the game winner.

I started off feeling sorry for Sauve but by the end it was Leighton I was feeling for.

We really have the kid's number thats for sure.

Wow is all I can say....

Tanguay takes a tripping penalty with about 3:36 left in overtime. Tanguay redeems himself by scoring the game winning goal. They Avs didn't deserve to get this game to OT much less win the game. Talk about your offense saving you and Granato having a little faith in Sauve. He definately sucked in the first period, but made some solid saves and allowed the Avs a chance and that's all they needed.

Avs win 5-4

Hey Smokey...is Mark Eaton the next to come off that same assembly line? I know nothing really about how he has actually played this year...but his +/- is insanely better than any other Predator and he's chipped in with a little offense.

Yes, he is legit. He is a monster-hitter as well. I've been a big fan of his game since his call-up earlier this season.

See what happens when the Avalanche press? They score goals, limit the oppositions shots........magnifcent last half of the game for the Avalanche.

You have to feel bad for the Hawk fans tonight. 3 - 0 lead against the Avs going into the second, and they lose 5 - 4 in OT. That is a confidence killer!

Fuzzy, I see your woman was taken off your avatar....I knew it was only a matter of time :p.

I'll answer that. Last year he was in the minors at parts of the season. This year, he came to camp with 15 pounds of muscle and a new attitude. He is drawing the opposing teams top-players each game, and doing a magnificent job of taking them out of the play. Big, strong, and decent offensively........Great player for the Preds !

Everything has pretty much been said. I will say that Worrell had a monster second period. Any further confusion with Scott Parker people?
