Knackstedt scored again last night...5th goal in 10 games.

Reul & Marchand were kept off the scoring sheet. Marchand did have 6 shots on net...although according to the QJMHL website he lost 15 of 20 face-offs...not sure how he typically does but we could use him on the wing some day with our center depth...so whatever.

Here's the weekend update, i added plus/minus ..

Good week from Dennis Reul who scored his first points, including goal, of his major junior career and has impressed with an excellent plus minus, Jordan Knackstedt, Mikko Lehtonen who was better than a point-per-game before his injury and of course Tuukka.

Adam Courchaine and Radim Ostrcil of Ottawa slipped a bit this week ..

Zach hamill

I apologize if these have already made it to the board previously but I just stumbled across a nice Zach Hamill video on youtube that I figured I'd share with my fellow Bruins fans.

This was also a pretty nifty shootout goal, even though the announcer makes me want to stick my fingers in my ears.

Good to see Yuri has reached his offensive output from the past two years in 11 games...

Anyone see Hunwick play in Providence yet? Looks like he has picked up from where he left off in camp (+4, 2pts in 3 games)

Off-Topic...Kyle Turris has 2 goals and 2 assists through two games. Pretty bummed out Wisconsin is not playing any games in the Boston area this year...at least for the regular season. This kid looks like he is going to be a stud. I think JVR will be a good player but I have a feeling Philly will regret not taking Turris.

Nugs interviewed Marchand and he blogged about it on NEHJ: http://www.hockeyjournal.com/Article.php?ArtID=993914

I love this quote about Chara. A lot of the things that make him captain material are stuff we as fans don't necessarily see.

Quote:
“In training camp, I learned a small detail from (Zdeno) Chara – I was up too high on a breakout, and by the time I got the puck the defenseman closed on me. He taught me to stay lower on that play. It wasn’t a huge thing, but it happens all the time in games. I’m trying to work with the young guys on some things, and am enjoying the new experience.”

It'd be awesome if someone can give us some regular updates on Carl Soderberg. Can he come over to Providence when his season is over? Will he want to?

Looking ocer the Swedish Elite League website http://www.eliteprospects.com for Malmo, it shows Soderberg as not having played any games yet. Apparently he is still recovering from his severe eye injury.

Did note, however, that old friend, Martin Samuelsson has two assists so far in the season.

My Swedish is not very good, but it says here basically that Carl Söderberg is back.

He has been out for nine months due to his eye injury, but has been able to train the last three months. The injury has healed well and his physical condition is in a similar level as it was before the injury. The team will be patient and give him time to get adjusted to the game and familiar with the team.

He feels that he is in a good form right now, but because he has not played games for a long time it will take some time to get back into the game.

As a Blues fan I am torn but as a hockey fan I do hope Soderberg recovers fully for you guys and eventually decides to come across the pond.

As a Blues fan I can admit I was awfully tired of the "will he/won't he" game.

I saw Knackstedt recently had another two goal game...anyone know if this guy can skate? I am assuming not since he was drafted so late with his size and pretty good numbers in the WHL last year for someone his age.

Bodnarchuk has been named captain of the Halifax Mooseheads, thought you guys might like to know. Some pretty high praise from his coach as well in this article.

definitely needs to pick up the skating. he's kind of a plodder, but has really good size and underrated skill. project pick, but bradley loves him which bodes well for the young man

KyleMac-thank you for the update. Bodnarachuk is another example of the quality young players in the B's system.

Been rumored for a while, but got official yesterday: Söderberg is making his comeback today against Oskarshamn - 282 days after he got that nasty eye injury.

That's a good step in the right direction. I wish him all the best and hopefully he proves ready and willing for the NA game sooner rather than later.

Looks like I jinxed Söderberg. Apparently he is sick and will miss today's game.

Providence won 4-3...Bochenski scores, here comes more calls for Murray to the glue factory. Nokelainen scored again, as a former high pick and only 21 y/o I am liking this Walter trade quite a bit. He sounds like he could be a good third line option at some point if PJ or someone is dealt or injured. I don't recall much from him from his brief stints with the Isle...is this guy a hitter in the same way people consider Kobaskew a "gritty guy" (I think Kobaskew's grit is a bit over-estimated from what I have seen) or does he regularly bang bodies??

Knackstedt scored two more goals and an assist Wed night including the game winner in OT for Moose Jaw in their 3-2 win. He now has 9 goals, 8 assists for 17 pts in 13 games and is a plus 8 with 29 PIM. A 6'2, 200lb winger...we could use more of this...too bad he is 2-3 years away.

Here's this week prospect update ..

This past week saw strong performances from '07 7th round pick and Moose Jaw Warrior Jordan Knackstedt, and stand out prospect Brad Marchand.
Our US College prospects kicked their season off with Kevin Regan going 2-0 in his first two starts and on the flip side Alain Goulet 0-2 against a strong Miami (Ohio) team.
