I've only seen one Otters game, but it was the D that made the goalies look that bad. They faced a ton of shots (around 50, if I remember correctly) and didn't have much help being able to see shots coming in from the perimeter, or in scrambles in front of the net.
I saw them play last night is Oshawa and the goals against is pretty much a team effort. As soon as they fell behind early a few of their guys just started taking dumb penalties which just made them lose by a ton for the second night in a row.
I'm with Charlie Girl, when Erie was in town the other night (Janus started), I couldn't believe how bad they were defencively. The Petes aren't a team that can really run up the score, but they did it with ease against the Otters. One of the goals, scored by Pat Daley, he picked up the puck at his blueline, and just skated past 3 Erie players without being touched and he slid it through the pads of Janus.
Petes also have one of the worst PP's in the league and went 4/4.
Erie's been having a rough couple of years, I hate to see when any O team is down. Hopefully good things happen the rest of the year, and an incredible prospect comes down to you in the priority draft in 08!
they have a really good import goalie but erie has had some serious bad luck with injuries and one of their players being mugged at a mall....i expect them to be a lot better next season. erie wasnt going to be a contender this year but due to injuries they have been worse than i thought.....goaltending isnt the issue its their team play and just a lack of talent...well they have young talent that will develop
Speaking as a Sarnia fan(don't hate me! ) Up till last year it was pretty tough getting through the rough years, so I can really identify-still, if it means Erie getting a great prospect in the draft, then it's worth it(I think Stamkos for example was worth the pain). I just see McQueen doing well with our team, and I wondered what happened with Erie, was he just not fitting in anymore?
