added my vote a couple times this season on the ESPN site--once btw during the Penguins' win streak. I ranked Flyers number one both times.

Also, Avalanche should have been rated higher weeks ago.

Flyers are #2 in Goals for per game and #3 in goals against per game. It's hard to argue them being the best team in the NHL right now.

So TSN has us drop 2 spots after a 3-0 week but the holy canucks of vancouver jump 6 spots to #1. I don't usually get mad at stupid things like power rankings, but why bother to do them if you aren't going to do them right. You cannot possibly not have the Flyers leapfrog the penguins from last week to this week. The flyers went 3-0 on a tough schedule including a win over the pens. Un****ing believable.

Cullen's rankings are so idiotic. This is like how the Phillies keep "losing" in 3rd order wins or some nonsense like that.

Tell us how you really feel McNasty . Power Rankings are always a pain in the butt to look at I agree, I usually avoid them unless my team is on top just so I can bask in the awesomeness . Luckily we play Vancouver shortly, and if they still have them ranked above us then I will take cover whilst you demolish things in this thread.

A Twitter exchange between Cullen and a friend of mine yields only this explanation:

The rankings are completely meaningless, but infuriating nonetheless.

I think the writer played for the '74 Bruins. Seriously WTF??? We are in 6th behind Boston and Atlanta???? I've just lost all respect for the power rankings.

I do a lot of stupid things while drunk, but I don't write power rankings.

Lol you cannot possibly rank the Flyers lower than 4th at the very worst. You can argue Vancouver and Detroit and I can even live with the Pens being 3rd since some people just have a hard on for them even if the flyers do have more points in 3 less games. But seriously, Atlanta and LA? We have 6 more points than Atlanta in 4 less games. LA, Has 10 less points than us in more games played. To make it worse, they are in 10th in the West, out of the playoff picture, yet they are better than the Eastern Conference leader?

Yes, seeing Atlanta there is a little strange, same goes for Boston or LA but whatever

But if his only reason for us being so low is Pronger injury, the pens should barely be in the top 10 without Crosby

The basis of his ranking the Flyers so low (and having them drop) is the Pronger injury. They've gone 5-3 in his absence.

If the Crosby injury (and their recent play) doesn't drop the Penguins a half dozen spots, we'll know for sure these rankings are more of a joke than 3rd Order Wins.

He says it's statistics, but the dude is a fraud. How the **** does Atlanta have more value player-wise then us? We have one of the deepest teams in the league, even without Pronger.

Fugly is putting up some monster stats for Atlanta. Maybe the key to winning is points from the blue line.

Yeah.

You notice that he's already set the stage to keep the Pens roughly where they are.
