Carter trade proposal

How about the following trade proposal for the Rangers:

Canucks get: Anson Carter
Rangers get: Marek Malik, RJ Umberger

Marek is a big reliable stay at home defenseman who would great with Darius, has good offensive skills and a great +/-. RJ Umberger is our 2001 first rounder, who is yet unsigned, and was a Hobey Baker award finalist last year.

From a Ranger standpoint, there isn't a big enough "name" player coming back. Malik & Umberger will not capture the back page of the NY Post.
We all know that from a publicity perspective, the Rangers don't want the first reaction from the fans to be "Who?"

As a Ranger fan, I'd do that deal in a heartbeat. Aside from Tuomo Ruutu, Umberger was the player I wanted to see the Rangers draft in the 2001 draft, even over Blackburn.

A stay-at-home d-man and a top notch prospect for our slumping Carter? Sather would never do it.

Seriously though, it could work out for both sides and Lundmark would end up getting more icetime upon his return so its a win-win for the Rangers.

You'd have a hard time finding a fan that wouldn't. Unfortunately, it's not up to us.

The deal is great, but when has Slats let hockey sense take priority over headlines?
