lol, this is what happens when we go four days without a game. We're fiendin.

BTW I didn't realize Hossa was injured, in that case I'm alright with Dawes.

This game worries me..I never like playing winless teams - especially away from home.

That said, this is a must-win. This is an Atlanta team that is good, but is struggling alot early on..I mean, Randy Jones scored a goal on them. They will come out fired up against us after last season and now with Hartley gone, so we're going to have to come out scoring. Hopefully this is the game that the offense gets it together.

Here's hoping for a result ala the Giants/Falcons game Monday.

It worries the hell out of me too.

Not only are they winless, we beat the crap out of them in the PO's. For some reason, there is almost always revenge time the next time two teams like this play each other.

For example, take the beating we took from Toronto last season, 9-2, then we beat them 7-2.

It seems like it happends so often that its almost scary. Its like, if you take a big beating you spend a helluva lot of time on it thinking what happend, then the next time you play each other, you know what went wrong, and its like you don't got any pressure, you are only out there to get revenge.

At the same time, Waddel is behind the bench and everything, they are a complete mess. There are no excuses if we can't beat this team.

Can't wait till tommorow night, and am happy the schedule is finally going to pick up. On a side note I was reflecting today on how nice it is to watch a Ranger line-up with so much legitamite young talent on it. It's been quite a long time since Ranger fans have had a line-up like this to watch. Finally, good luck tommorow Nigel, go earn yourself a spot.

you must be thinking of avery not counting against the cap...as far as i know he counts because he isn't on LTI....

teams are limited to 4 callups per season but if a player is on IR the team can call up a player to replace them without it counting as 1 of the 4 callups..

the Rangers never called up anybody for Avery...
SOS,

Can you confirm this? I'm fairly certain this is not the case and the 4 call-up clause is only after the trading deadline.

Given the massive amount of grief Ranger posters gave Devil fans on the Devil board for "barely" beating the Thrashers, I'd sureeeeee hope the Rangers win this one.

Im getting such a horrible feeling about this game. Playing a 0-6 team that is due for a win? This is gonna be a tough game.

Was going to post the same thing Fly, 0-6 with a new coach coming in. The only thing that gives me a little hope is that we ruined Kari Lehtonen's confidence in the playoffs. He hasnt been the same since.

the thrashers will be motivated, but we have, by far far far far far far far far FAR and away the better team at almost every single position, except for your starting left wing.

i can see this being a close game if we continue to not be able to put pucks in, but if the offense plays even remotely up to its potential, i smell a blowout. 6-1ish

this game can even decide a few important things. Can the Rangers get a blow out and resurrect the offense now and if so, i think 0-7 with no coach, Atlanta start playing for the lottery already...

however, a big win and 2 pts for Atlanta against a so called contender might spark them into life...

thisg ame can be a turning point for many reasons, either way - its a horrible one for the Rangers to face. They must make sure above all else, Kovalchuk has no time on the puck and they need to bombard KL with shots and get players in front early.

Ill echo inferno. If the Rangers play even remotely like they did in that third period Saturday we will bury them.

Naturally it hinges on the if.

its all theory isnt it?!

We just need to out work them and put alot of early pressure on their goalie. Lots of shots and get in his face, in front of the net...

an early lead, is vital... they'll surely be nervous and vunerable..

gotta be cautiously optimistic about tonight.

even though we swept them from the playoffs, even though they're 0-6 and no head coach, there's no easy games, and they still have Kovalchuk and Hossa.

Speaking of Hossa - whats his status? is he back in the game tonight? he's missed some time recently through injury as we all know.

The key to Kovalchuk is to crowd him out. Forecheck and give him no time on the puck. If he gets any decent time hen can burn you.... his opposing winger has to be willing to back check aggressively. i'd try and keep Jagr away from him, as Jags doesnt like to come backto much. It may be a blessing in disguise if Dawes plays tonight, he's a good backchecker.

He played on Tuesday and logged 20 minutes.. I'd say he's fine and should definitely be in.

yeah, just checked myself. If e managed 20 minutes he'll be fine for a minimum of 15 tonight. he makes it much tougher for us tonight.

They actually have 2 weapons now!!!

Same applies though, lots of hustel tonight. i wouldnt mind seeing Hollweg get some ice time and planting a few big hits on their big two, especially Hossa - see how healthy he really is.
