so then everyone; how many goals can we seriously epxect tonight?

will it be the blow out we're all praying for or another low scoring affair?

im thinking a 4-2 win but in truth, im not sure what to expect and any kind of win is fine by me!

All I'm hoping for is for the Rangers to do the basics, not look past the opponent, and just go about their business and pick up the win.

Just a win would be fine to get back to .500 . Shanny and Jagr putting a few in the back of the net would be nice too.

other than a win, i'd really like to see some genuine chemistry tostop all the media speculation. i'd like to see Druryand Gomez really dominate and put on a center's clinic.

Besides a win, I would really like to see them play a full 60 minutes of good hockey. None of this play good for 10 minutes then forget how to play for the next 5-10 min. Just a solid game all around.

With the firing of Bob Hartley, can we can expect the Thrashers to come in all fired up? Well, fired up in addition to the desire for revenge for last playoffs.

I'd say players are probably fearing for their jobs at this point, which is an even greater motivator. It's gonna be difficult tonight, unless we can score a few early and get them down on themselves. Might get pretty fiesty too.

For every team that turns it around immediately following the dismissal of a coach, I swear there are 10 teams that continue to play crappy. I'm not too worried about the Thrashers being fired up; they're 0-6 not entirely for lack of motivation but because they just aren't that good.

I can imagine them wanting to bang our guys around and take a few liberties with our skill players, but they look lost as an organization and while I don't know what kind of coach Waddell is, you're right about the players wanting to prove something. We get some goals early and run away with this, it could get ugly. I like ugly, but not at the cost of an injury or cheap shot.

i think defensively they are a horrible team. Im surprised Waddell has still got his job when you think how he got rid of defensive talent like Coburn for short term fixes.

This team's blue line is shallow and far from great and we can really get at them if we forecheck relentlessly.

We need to do a real good job of shutting down their top line, aftre that there really isnt much there. When Todd White is your 2nd line center you have issues.

If the Flyers walked all over them, you guys should be in the clear. They're under a new coach, and seem to have a complete lack of chemistry. What I'm saying is they looked like the Flyers last year.

They may be down but they are not out. The team will not go the entire season with out a win. I think the Thrashers are going to come out flying, but I think the Rangers will too.

All I ask for is 60 minutes of smart hockey, keep the stupid penalties to a minimum, play solid team defense, and make smart (short) passes to move up the ice instead of one player trying to go through the entire Thrashers team and losing the puck at the blueline.

well said. The last thing we want is this group to create/gain an arrogance that they can go into a building with a guarantee of 2 points. Thats the time when you get caught cold and made to look very stupid.

we want them to always look to go in and outwork, out hustle and out shoot every team they play. Acheive 2 of the above and you'll likely win most games.

this is actually a good analogy because if you remember, cuz i am trying to forget, we lost twice to the Flyers early on in the season and i believe gave them their only wins at that time..

so it's actually a pretty pertinent analogy, that does not bode well..

It would be awesome to see Staal get his first goal tonight especially since I probably won't be able to see the game on saturday.
