TORONTO (CP) -- Clarke Wilm might not have scored a goal in his Toronto Maple Leafs' debut, but he still did enough to catch the eye of head coach Pat Quinn.
Wilm became the 30th player this season to don a Maple Leafs'jersey in Toronto's 1-0 home loss to the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night.
"Clarke might have been one of our better forwards," said Quinn. "He's not a pretty player by any means, but (the tight-checking Devils game) is the kind of game he can play well in because a lot of times it's not pretty out there."
What a glowing review !!!!! He comes the next Quinn reclamation project, and with Craig Johnson now ...Leafs are set at forward and just need to last Dman and the Cup is all ours....
Quinn says he not pretty, means he can't skate but try's and has hands of stone. Fergie is right Johnson will help and he can skate as you will see.
Wilm is another player that reminds Quinn of himself, with the same abilities, in Quinns time he was extemely big back in the 60's there were few guys the size of Quinn in the league at that time, Pat couldn't skate, he couldn't shoot, he couldn't pass but every once in a while he would catch a guy with his head down like Orr and nail him.
