Malik Seems Headed for Tomorrow's Scratch List (Confirmed Scratch)

Dellapina's blog

Quote:
Thomas Pock, who has yet to dress for a game, was paired with Michal Rozsival. Alert Rangers fans will then ask: What about Marek Malik? Well, the gangly one was skating with Jason Strudwick on what certainly appeared to be the pairing that is designated to be scratched.

Tom Renney wasn't confirming that, saying he wanted to give Pock a chance to skate a regular shift in practice (sounded like a way to keep the heat of Malik for another day). But neither was Renney ruling out such a move
.

Renney likes Strudwicks sandpaper and Maliks Glue. They will be the home depot pairing

Yes, that was Marek Malik practicing with Jason Strudwick today. But no, that does not necessarily mean Malik is sitting out tomorrow night in Atlanta.

What could be a ray of hope to the growing legion of No. 8 detractors was, according to Tom Renney, just an opportunity to gauge Thomas Pock’s fitness level while paired with Michal Rozsival.

“I wouldn’t read too much into it,” Renney said.

Dont think that's going to happen. Doesn't make much sense against a team desperate for a win that just fired their head coach to throw in a guy who hasn't played yet this year on a top defensive pairing.

The thing that scares me most is how We went on a 5 game losing streak last season when Malik was injured.

Could that affect tomorrow nights game?

I'm not getting my hopes up, but this is a long time coming if it happens. I am really interested in how this team would function without him...I have a strong feeling it would be positively. But there's only one way to find out.

My question is what does benching him buy us positively? So Thomas Pock is in, but the rookie back there won't help us MORE than Malik. Also, Malik and Rozsival have been playing together for three years, now when the team is already lacking chemistry you are going to break that pairing up? Besides, this can't do anything for Malik's confidence. Not sure if this buys us anything more than simply putting a player that nobody likes on the bench so the fans are appeased.

But the regular season is a whole different story. By that logic, half of your first three lines would be in Hartford and Michal Rozsival would have been waived.

Thats true, but, Maliks game is off big time. And maybe, just nmaybe he needs to sit and just watch. Cause as ****** as he has been this year he been complete ****ing garbage on just about every shift. Besides his game 1, 3 point game other words he needs to get his head together. i want Pock to be given an equal shot, he deserves it. I been a fan of his since day one. I still think he has it to be a #3/4 D-Man. And I stand byu that.
