Alex Tanguay on the market !!!

Hi,

Many sources here RDS, and Quebec radio talk since yesterday about Tanguay.

Alex was not on the meeting of the flames (all players was there), and it's seem

Keenan want Kovalev...they also talk about Latendresse but it's clear Tanguay can be move in the next days or weeks

Do you think Bruins should go after him ???
and what Flames will ask for???

I think they'd want Savard, which is a non-starter.

There is more on this rumor for anyone on spectors:

HABS, FLAMES TALKING TRADE?

Spector's Note: The following was sent in by several readers:

RDS: Yvon Pednault reported during last night's Montreal-Florida game that the Canadiens and Calgary Flames might be talking about a swap of Alex Kovalev for Alex Tanguay. Scouts from the Calgary Flames were apparently in attendance, possibly to scout Kovalev, who used to play for Flames head coach Mike Keenan in New York and Keenan could be interested in bringing him to Calgary. Tanguay is supposedly unhappy playing for Keenan and is said to have recently missed an important team meeting.

Spector's Note: My thanks to "Claude", Michel Pilon, "Alex", Francois Perron and others. The Habs don't play the Flames at all this season and the Panthers aren't due to meet the Flames until December. It's possible the Flames scouts were there to see Kovalev, or perhaps they're scouting other players on either club. Kovalev did complain to the media after last night's game about head coach Guy Carbonneau not taking a time out near the end of the third period, and I think the last thing GM Bob Gainey needs is Kovalev feuding with Carbonneau again. That being said, let's not be too quick to make assumptions. Yes, the salaries are about right (Tanguay earns nearly $1 million more per season than Kovalev) but it remains to be seen if anything comes of this. Scouts were San Jose were also apparently in attendance.

Personally I think its a bit premature to say he could be had in the next few days/weeks. Missing one meeting and the rest is just pure speculation. hell, he might have had permission to miss that meeting for all we know.

If he was available, I'd be mildy interested depending on cost, but with limited options going the other way to equal the money, unless they want murray I dont see a deal happening.

Tanguay for Kovalev would be good for Montreal, hopefully it doesn't happen.

I like Tanguay's game... I'd be willing to go with something like Sturm, Alexandrov and a pick for him.

If you're not offering Savard, Bergeron, Kessel, or Chara, it ain't happening.

I'd love tanguay too. I've seen criticism that Calgary needs to better their D. perhaps Axe and Alby or some other defenseman. that's the only way i see him fitting in as it would open a left wing spot. i dont see what we could do to get him.

I strongly consider a Sturm + Alberts for Tanguay swap. I think Tanguay would be gold on a line with Bergeron.

Calgary will also need cap space eventually.

so if it ends up being smaller parts and depth, dont be too surprised.

The only ones reporting this are the Montreal media, and the only team they're talking about Tanguay moving to is Montreal. This is just the media trading a French star to Montreal for peanuts again. Ignore it.

Haha the Habs after another French player? Who would have guessed?

Knowing the Montreal media, they probably saw the Flames scout in attendance, then quickly pondered who the best French Canadian was on the team. After this, they tried to match up who could be offered up from the Habs. With all of the negative press lately, they quickly realized that Kovelev once played for Keenan.

That is how a rumour can start.

calgary would want to get cheaper and younger if they deal tanguay... or get back a superior talent like kovalev

its not a good match for us

in bizzaro world if Kiprusoff was a guaranteed non signable guy for them than we might be able to work out a deal with Fernandez and Kessel but i wouldnt even begin to want to go near that as a Bruin fan.

Bergeron is a much better and more valuable player than tanguay so that doesnt begin to make sense to me either.

I suppose Murray for Tanguay might work if we were willing to give up something good and young as part of it, but that doesnt really excite me either as I kind of think Murray is the better player for us.

the more i think about it... im happy letting this one totally miss us

I agree the Tanguay for Kovalev deal makes no sense at all. Calgary loses on all fronts. A deal like Tanguay 4 Chipchura Ryder and ??? makes more sense as it improves Calgary's depth and gives them money to resign Kiprusoff. Kovalev is a lazy bum and Sutter is the GM. Weather Keenan wants him or not doesn't matter. He has ruined 3 or 4 franchises in a row and he doesn't have any say with the personell he is getting.

A deal with Boston ain't happenin. I'm convinced that PC wouldn't move a core player (Chara, Kessel, Bergeron, Krejci?) unless it was for a guy whose name starts with an H, ends with an A and has O-S-S in the middle.

Clearly you write headlines for the Boston Herald.

I was always disapointed that the Sox traded David Riske before the Herald could use the "Riske Business" headline when he blew a game. I had a bet with my brother that the Herald would use that by season's end...had to pay out

I wonder if Keenan would like to have Murray on his team

Murray + pick or prospect for Tanguay?

They're discussing Latendresse and the city of Montreal hasn't risen into full-scale revolution?
