I'm not so sure Anisimov will be the Russian special one. I think Cherry will be special (a bit) but Anisimov will be a fluke.

Cherepanov, Montoya and a 1st round pick in 2008.

This is a lot more realistic...

But in this hypothetical land where the Leafs trade Kaberle, they'd also have to take back some salary from the Rangers. So throw in Mara and someone else...Prucha would probably be the likely suspect, and remove Cherepanov from the original offer.

Seems ok, but I don't think Rangers will be willing to part with Cherepanov. They have too many veterans leaving soon and haven't got top line talent anywhere to replace them with. Also, Toronto doesn't really need anymore goalies.

I would probably do it though. Kaberle is awesome

Sounds about right. But I still doubt the leafs would agree on that.

can't really afford him...

unless someone is moved.

What would it take? A producing, young roster player, a prospect and a pick, I gather. Anisimov, Prucha and a second seems pretty reasonable, but I would think that if they were to trade a young defenseman, they'd want one back. I honestly do no know in what regard Sauer and Baranka are held throughout the league, and haven't watched an AHL game yet, some I'm not sure if you can substitute Anisimov for Prucha.

But from a Rangers' standpoint, they'd have to get rid of a defenseman making decent money for him to fit. And they'd have to do that without taking on salary, most likely.

Perhaps Mara, Prucha, Montoya and a 2nd (wishful thinking, Toronto would probably want a first). I'm not sure what Kaberle makes (4 mill per maybe?) but, you're right, we'd need to send significant salary the other way to make room for Kaberle.

at 4.25 you would need:
Mara or Malik
Hossa
Dawes
Montoya
2nd Rounder

I wouldn't move Prucha, but Eklund mentioned this on his XM spot last night about Toronto moving Kaberle. I would think Kubina or McCabe first though.

I dont want to go back to trading away our future....dont trade that first round pick for this coming draft- it is a very deep draft and they should be able to find some good defensive prospects- plus they have Ian White who is a very good d prospect in their system- dont want Kaberle if we have to give away alot of our future

I would seriously doubt that he's avaiable.

But I can't see that package getting it done.

They will want at least one young NHL player who has shown he can play in the NHL (Tyutin, Prucha, Callahan). And then add prospects and picks.

yes I would say alot. i wouldnt look to give up to good young fowards and a 2nd for Kaberle. He's good, but he is not winning NYR a Stanley Cup, so Ill pass.

Maybe a 2nd, Dawes and some other b level type prospect foward or defenseman, who cares.
