Girardi's First NHL Goal

I know it was a crap game but congrats are in order for Daniel Girardi's first goal. He should be a good one.

Indeed, it was a great shot as well.

Now Staal and Dubinsky need their firsts. Tomorrow sounds like a good day for that

This was the best moment of the season. I've been a huge DG fan since he got up, and every game scream for him to score it haha.

I really like how he pointed for C-Dru to get back to the point spot he vacated. Kid looks like a born leader, wouldn't surprise me to see him get an A in a few years, and the C a few years later.

i agree and he was never drafted, another gem by our scouts . I wonder if Sather will try to sign other ufa gems that are out there. Anyone have a list of college ufa??

It was just a matter of time, he has been hitting the net pretty well since the beginning of the season, glad to see one went in for him. Hopefully it isn't the last.

even if it is his last of the year, if he has a good +- and the team wins, that is all that matters. But good to see him get his first, hopefully we will see some more.

I hope Renney realizes we need a right handed shot on the left point on the pp for the nice one timers. Hopefully Girardi will get a little more pp time. They need someone smart back there.

Boy, he looks to be a keeper. He was a revelation when he came up last year and THIS year he just oozes confidence - already he's gone from undrafted, to best D at HFD, to a surprise 6th D on the big club, to now (IMO) already a legit top 4.

How on EARTH was he not drafted?

This to me is really a case of the scouts blowing it. He's not a late bloomer or anything - even on the knights he was our best defensive player during the Mem Cup year.

I never understood what the "experts" knew that the rest of us didn't.

Im all for this kid Girardi. he is going to be some thing else in this league. For his second year and first full season, what can i say but the kid looks like a seasoned veteran player. Very impressive. If he picks up an offensive game, well NYR might have a found that #1 pairing defenseman they need. Plus, if he gets more physical, at times i could see him being a future captain of this team. this kids upside seems like it dont have a limit and im completly hyped about him. As he went un drafted and noticed, blows my mind. What a miss for all these teams.

Congrats DG on you first goal, it was beautiful.

defensive players dont seem to sell in the draft its all about offensive minded players who can score, well we now see that all aint true. A id like DG is hard to come by, just matured so quickly its amazing.

Now that he's getting some powerplay time, this should be just the beginning. You see him starting to dictate play and organize the play out there.

Likewise

It was a great shot. He's not going to be an offensive-minded d-man..at least I don't think..but he takes alot of shots and will definitely take chances on offense when he gets them. I always like to see that in d-men.

Is it just me, or as he seen a bunch of PP time in every game so far?

I'm not making that up, right?

I might be, haha.

He's been shooting more (at least it seems that way). Wouldn't be surprised if he put up 15-20 pts this year.

i say 50+ goals and 75+ assistes! but, then again i thought golie locks would make the team and play as a foward because of his crazy sick shooting skills.

Girardi is one player I am willing to admit I completely missed the boat on.

Didn't see anything special in juniors.

Wasn't wowed in Hartford

But the kid is just a flat out smart defensive defenseman.

Him and Staal are two guys who look like they could spend a lot of years just playing solid, shut-down defense. They won't attract a ton of attention because they aren't scorers, fighters or knock a guy out of crease defenseman. But they just know how to play the puck.

He has been our third best player this year, behind only lundqvist and tyutin.

Nice job Dan, absolutly deserved it.
