Ready sooner rather than later for his NHL return?

I'm not really panicing after 7 games, but something must be done to ignite what "should" be a mighty Offense.

Especially if Strakas finger drags out like Ruccinskys finger did in 06

One year deal, incentive driven, bonus, whatever

Not to mention preventing him ending up back with the Flyers or Ottawa might be a wise move looking down the road

Part of me says yes. He can score goals. He can set up goals. He can prob play great with Jagr or Shanny or C.D or Prucha or Hossa or Straka...He can fight. He can hit. He can lead.

The other part says HELL NO, he'll be injured 50% of the time.

No. He gets injured to often and I think we have enough stars on our team as it is.

Even if we were to move Drury over to the wing, where the hell is this guy going to play? Is he going to stay healthy?

He's another playmaker, not a goal scorer, and we need finishers that are willing to shoot the puck.

Too many if's for this guy, and he doesn't fill a need. Not to mention the fact that we don't nearly enough cap space to sign him.

Everything points to no.

I like the idea of keeping him off Philly or Ottawa but really we don't need him.

He would fit perfectly with Jagr. If things continue as they have, a one year deal would not be too far fetch. Dubinsky & Dawes would be the obvious candiates to be sent down.

No, the teams problem right now is not a lack of star power. Drury and Gomez are capable enough for making plays. This team needs some heart, not more players

I thought the only skate guy Forsy would deal with is in Philly, so it's there or nothing....?

And I don't want him anyway. The first thing that would happen after he stepped onto the ice as a Ranger would be him hurting one of the few body parts he has left that haven't already been injured. No, no, emphatically no.

Did I mention no?

No way. Not a chance. The last thing I want is the most injury prone center in the game of hockey.

shouldn't rangers be looking for wingers instead of a center?

The last thing the Rangers need right now is another veteren in the linup...Why have all the forwards looking to setup another new guy...Which i think is part of the scoring problem right now...

also with a salary cap forsberg isn't coming here...it's been brought up 1000 times before..

i understand what your all saying...however, with avery and straka both out on thr IR and most likely having to put another player on the IR sometime during the year, the rangers save cap space do they not?......when a player is on the IR they dont have to pay that specific amount of cap for that time?....if that is the case, then forseberg ofr 2.5 a year would be a steal, he wont play for a while so his cap hit would be 2 and then he would be hurt most definately at some point, and if he is then we take that off the books......i think he and jagr would be a huge force, and yes, forseberg used to play wing with sakic for all of you who dont remember...i say if we can get him, get him, it will only help the offense

1)Forsberg isn't eligible for a bonus laden incentive contract. He isn't 35 years old and didn't spend 100 days on the IR last season

2)Avery and Straka count against the cap on IR.A team doesn't save money by placing the player on IR.A team can go over the cap at or near the upper limit to replace those players but they have to be in compliance when the injured players return. Both players should be back by the time Forsberg makes another attempt to play

Forsberg

Straka Forsberg Jagr

Prucha Gomez Shanny

Avery Drury Callahan

Hossa/Hollweg Betts Orr

To be honest, PF is my fave player, when healthy, off the Rangers. He is in so many ways. The perfect hockey player. I hope his time off to rehabilitate brings him back healthy and strong. I don't want him going back to Philly. Not before, definitely not now.

Although its unlikely and I don't think it's necessarily the right move, at least not right now, if Straka or one of the top 6 get injured long term, it might be an option if he wants to come here. Forsberg is much more similar to Nylander than Drury or Gomez.

But, DAMN does it make the lineup look pretty!

Drury Forsberg Jagr
Shanahan Gomez Avery
Prucha Anisimov Hossa
Callahan Betts Dubinsky

Tyutin Girardi
Staal Rozsival
Malik Sauer

Those are some whacky lines. Don't let Renny see those.

I'm not trolling.. although many will assume so. I have just been curious as to what others think about his return and where it will be. If I offend, I am sorry. I think Foppa would help ANY team for how many games he plays. With his extra time off, he may even be able to play 80+% of the games he is on the roster for. He COULD help the Rangers playing with any of the forwards you have playing now.

BUT... the NYR cap hit is roughly at $50M. That is according to www.nhlnumbers.com, and I believe is a good (although not entirely certain) estimation. That leaves less than $.5M to sign him. If they move things around by assigning players around, they MAY free $1M more. With that little money, the Rangers would have ZERO chance of meeting his demands. He will get a pretty decent chunk from Philly, who has more room to play with, and Colorado has a TON of space. When he comes back.. I think it will be with these two teams, although the Wings still have space as well, and can make a push

But the fact of the matter is that the Rangers don't NEED a Forsberg. THere are very good players on the team now that are struggling, but it is only the first month. Let them gel. It should come together. As much as it makes me to smile to see the standings right now, I have no illusions as to where the NYR will be come April, at that will be in the playoffs, and near the top. If, in a month.. things STILL look bad, there can be options, but there are still some HEAVY contracts that will be difficult to unload if they don't pan out. But, again.. give it time. Drury isn't lighting the lamp, but he will, and Gomez was never a goal scorer to begin with. Jagr and Shanny and the rest of the team SHOULD pick it up, and I wouldn't doubt it happens soon. It's tough to have a new crop of guys come in and instantly mesh. Let's see where it goes. But.. if, 30 games in, you are still struggling, things could get ugly.

Again.. not trolling. I'm a fan of the sport and enjoy intellectual conversations. I may not like the Rangers, but I never felt the need to disrespect other fan's teams. Good luck. I still hope we beat you, and all, but, gotta love it!!!

well, those "stars" sucks right now. Although they will pick it up soon i hope. Shanny and Gomez will pick it up, i belive in them. Jagr is a sniper (with his butt showing) Is he a good laeder? i dont know. Jagr misses NYlander, but he probably will pick it up as well.

The rangers need a stronger/better defense. For Sure. Lundquist is the best Ranger so far. Maple leafs and Rangers have for years had poor defense.

Do some changes now!
