"Challenging Rick Nash for the team scoring lead, Nikolai Zherdev is showing the ability that he did two years ago when he notched 27 goals, and he's just one point away from tying last season's disappointing point total of 32.
Key Injuries: LW Fredrik Modin (back), C Mike Peca (head). "
Just as the hockey world is starting to get on Nikolai Zherdev's side, when he had seven points and was plus-4 in three games, the engimatic Russian sniper had no points and was minus-5 in the next three games.
Key Injuries: LW Fredrik Modin (back), RW David Vyborny (groin).
38 year-old Sergei Fedorov is producing for Columbus too, putting up seven points in the last five games; unfortunately for the Jackets, it's been a long time since Fedorov was able to consistently contribute offensively.
Key Injuries: LW Fredrik Modin (back).
Hopefully that Modin injury tag is gone by the next time these come out...
I don't see how the Jackets can slip 3 places by winning 2 straight.
I know Power Rankings are all bullcrap anyways, but it's still frustrating.
The Blue Jackets didn't so much slip 3 places as much as three other teams did better than them in the past week, and as a result moved past them in the Top 15.
The Ducks went 3-0 since last Monday (19 to 9), the Wild went 3-1, and had a big win over Detroit (16 to 11), and Dallas ... well, um, that actually is a little questionable, as they went 2-2 (17 to 14).
We went 2-1, however one of those games was that royal thrashing at the hands of the Blues. So a 14-15 spot is wholly understandable.
The return of Pascal Leclaire from yet another short-term injury is most needed for a Blue Jackets team that has dropped six of seven and is in danger of turning into sellers if they aren't successful on a five-game road trip that starts later this week.
Key Injuries: C Sergei Fedorov (concussion).
