Goalie decision

You are now John Stevens, the coach of the Philadelphia Flyers. Who do u play in net for the next three games.

10/24 Flyers v. Panthers 7:30 PM : Nitty
10/25 Flyers v.Lightning 7:30 PM :Biron
10/27 Flyers v. Bruins 7:00 PM : Biron

I think Nitty should play the cats to get a game in. (its inevitable, he has to play and break out of his funk)
But i think Biron should play since he is playing outstanding. Its too early in the season to take any team for granted but id rather put nitty against the panthers offense rather than the bolts or bruins.

thoughts/opinions?

I'd give Biron the Panthers so he can have an extra day off between games... in the end, I don't think it really matters, however.

I'd put Biron against Florida and Niittymaki against TB, which is what I think they're going to do.

There is no explanation as to why Niittymaki doesn't play against Tampa. It will happen.

After a 6-1-0 start and a sweep of their four-game homestand, the Flyers now face another long road trip, but this time they start off playing three games in a span of four days. For the first time this season, Antero Niittymaki is expected to see game action and is scheduled to make his debut on Thursday night at Tampa Bay.

Niittymaki was 0-2 Vs. the Lightning last year, but I guess he had a loosing record against alot of teams last year.

It makes a lot more sense for Nitty to start against the Bolts.

1.) Biron should continue to do well against the Panthers and help build momentum for the Bolts game.

2.) Nitty will be able to better show off what he can do against the Bolts since they will be a much tougher challenge.

3.) It allows Biron to have a better schedule in terms of days off.

I think that's the big one. The way the Flyers are playing right now, they shouldn't be beating most teams, but they are beating everyone. since there's no logic there, might as well just balance the off days and let Biron be as rested as possible for the third game.

Makes sense to play Biron after such a long break. GL Nitty against TB, looks like a possible Boyle return.

Even though you typically play your backup against the weaker team, I don't mind this because it gives us a better chance to keep the momentum going and start the road trip off on the right foot.

.
That would seem to be the most important consideration and what most coaches would do IMO.

I know it is inevitable for Nitty to play, and I fully expect him to give up 6 goals to the TB offense. I'd rather they just not use a goalie and play with 6 attackers the entire game. it would be less painful to watch.

The Flyers could pretend to be the Devils and play the #1 goalie for every game of the season. Maybe Biron doesn't need rest.

if nitty was esche, id agree. but i think hell hold his own. as long as he can find the motivation to play. i mean, he could hypothetically win the job back, if he played well enough...

at least, lets let him think that

I would love it if he came back and showed himself to be a decent backup. I really have nothing against him, but I was really high on him a few years back, and then he did so poorly last year I am just frustrated with him.
