Panthers are missing too many key players.

Flyers 4 Knuble, Lupul, Carter, Kapanen
Panthers 1 Horton

I don't care that it's only seven games into the season, Mike Richards is leading the teams in goals!! I freakin' love this season!!!

Left wing Ben Eager, who was forced to take on nearly every physical challenge last season and finished as the NHL's penalty leader with 233, said the differences between last year's 1-6-1 team and this year's 6-1 team goes far beyond the results on the ice.

"Everyone gets along," Eager said. "We're all hanging around together and that's different than last year. There's a lot of character in the dressing room we didn't have."
Loose pucks: Eager took part in a full practice after missing three games with concussion symptoms. He practiced on a line with C Jim Dowd and RW Riley Cote. RW Ryan Potulny was sent back to the Phantoms to make room for Eager.
Hmmmmm...that's all I'm going to say about that quote....hmmmmmmm

UGH +1. Thanks for the reminder, now I have an hour and a half to mentally prepare myself.

Changing lines after seven games is a tad bit different than changing lines every shift like Hitchcock did. I'm all for switching it up a bit. If you don't want to take Lupul away from Richards, then put Hartnell on the top line and let Knuble play with Carter. Knuble can replace what Hartnell was doing for Carter's line and let Hartnell get going playing with Briere and Gagne.

I'm going to miss at least the first and maybe the second, as I'm going to the shooting range with a buddy. Hopefully I get to catch a competitive third.

My opinion is to leave Knuble on the first line until Upshall is back. I think he has the speed to match Danny and Gagne. That would allow Kapanen to bump down to the 4th line.

He's a homer of Chico Resch proportions.

I dunno, after those Carolina announcers (touching is a penalty?), I feel like almost anyone might be better.

Yeah, those guys are awful. Potvin at least knows the game, but his bias makes it hard to listen to him. It's his job I suppose.

I honestly don't get that, I know that these guys are announcers for certain teams, but the level of bias that most of them have is just beyond absurd.

The Carolina and NYI games were downright painful.

I understand that they're doing a "regional" broadcast so they're supposed to be appealing to the local fans. But I really dislike the assumption that everyone watching/listening is a fan of that team. Centre Ice reaches all over the continent and beyond now because it's available online, they just can't be so homerish. Somebody needs to tell them that a vast majority of people listening think they're morons.

I can understand back in the day before Centre Ice and the internet where it really was regional coverage, the guys who are now fossils could get away with it. But because this stuff is broadcast far and wide, they all need to tone it down.

There aren't many left who are not homers, unfortunately. I just don't get how they feel professionalism isn't a part of their job. They sound like the worst, most whiny fans in the world.

That's why I honestly like the TSN or CBC broadcasts because they're some bad guys on there too, but I don't see the blatant level of homerism as much. I like Jim Hughson a lot, great commentating voice IMO.

Mad Mike (on TSN) about Jagr:

"This guy has held three organizations hostage. If he doesn't have his right icetime, his right centre-iceman, and his right ice cream, he's not playing."

Awful GM, but he's turning into a decent analyst.

Jim is my favourite hockey announcer and it's not even close. Gord Miller is my second favourite (from TSN) and after that I don't care. Jim does regional coverage for the three western Canadian teams and I never notice a bias when he's doing those games or the national CBC games.

Last season CBC was pairing him with Drew Remenda on some nights (he usually does San Jose broadcasts I think) and they were by far the most unbiased, informative announce tandem I've ever heard. I really enjoyed listening to them and I don't think I've ever felt that way about announcers before.

In other news, I have 5 midterms in 5 days this week. 3 down, 2 to go. I have one tomorrow morning and I probably won't be doing too well, my focus is on this game.

Ahh, priorities...
