Peca showing his worth......

Call me carzy but I think picking up Peca may be one of the best moves the Jackets have made yet. This guy is all over the ice and is opening things for the other guy's on his line. He looks like he's about over the injuries that have hampered him the past 2 seasons.

Easy on the new threads bud.

He seems to be healthy, and nothing beats a solid veteran presence on a young team. I'd take Peca over Svitov any day of the week.

I like Peca's energy, almost as I much as I like Mac's avatar.

This was a great signing, his presence along with his determination will help the young guys develop a more rounded game. I think Peca can help out Brule the most. For some reason Gilbert's game always reminded me of Peca's.

why would that bother you

Anyway Peca is a good player I still think Norrena, Modin trade was best move we made post lockout.

Because the guy just made a new thread that probably didn't deserve it's own thread.

This place is becoming a cluster***** of redundant threads, and there is no structure to the board, that's why.

Anything else?

I definitely wouldn't have thought that Peca would be a great center for Nash but it's turning out that he is. And the two way play of those two, and to a slightly lesser extent Zherdev (he's not quite at their level yet) is making this line even more effective. I know Hitch wants to try Modin with Nash again but I don't think he should. It's not broke so don't fix it.

I like the idea of Modin with Peca and Nash. I really liked Boll with Novotny the other night so a Zherdev, Novotny, Boll line could bring an interesting dynamic. Vyborny, and Fedorov with Brule and then the Chimmer, Manny, Fritsche line is a given.

I like the top line as it is now, but I feel like Nash/Peca is going to work how it works independant of Zherdev so I wouldn't mind giving him a shot elsewhere.

It can happen in the matter of a couple of shifts so I am not opposed to him tinkering a bit.

'Cause Macster thinks he's a moderator, instead of letting TS and Sam take care of it...

Peca's game is improving, game by game. It'll be interesting to see how far he progresses.

Haha.

I don't think I'm a moderator, I'm just a poster who's been around long enough to see the degradation of this board. New posters who post just to post, people coming in here and making thread after thread about things that already have threads, or about things that are being discusses already in other threads.

Then there are the people who, for the life of them, can't seem to respect other people's thoughts and opinions. The personal attacks are lame, and are happening far too often.

Some of the best posters over the last few years don't even post anymore, or rarely post. It's too bad really, because It would be great to be involved in discussions regarding how well the team is playing lately, considering how bad we were when the board was in its prime.

Honestly, this place is not what it was, and what it has potential to be.

Speaking of TS and Sam- we know how hands-on Sam is, and we haven't seen TS a lot. I'm not going to speak for him, but I am fairly confident I know why we haven't been seeing as much of him around here.

Thanks for speaking for me though, but I'll kindly ask you to not do it in the future, thanks.

What?!? You don't like the same poster starting 4 threads an hour with insightful gems like "who all is going to the game"? How dare you!

Seriously, I'm with you on this.

Be gentle guys, Jacketsfan is a veritable noob. I agree, though, lot's of new posts that aren't needed. Might straighten itself out as newer posters gain some experience.

It does this board no good to have the inmates run the asylum. This goes for everyone, including me. It doesn't matter who has seniority over who, we have mods for a reason and if nobody is patrolling to clean up the threads and has a blue name, then the job won't get done. Personal attacks and name-calling will only make for a more hostile discussion in what should be a friendly discussion board. We all have our likes and dislikes, lets please try to express them without agitating others.

Can we all agree to try to stay on topic? This thread is about Mike Peca, who has been great so far.

I'm not sure about that one...ask me again in a month

In any case, for a cool 1 mill, to pull Peca of the hat mere days before the season starts, Howson looks like a magician. He's cheap and at the worst he is a premier face off veteran and a pk specialist. At best, he fills the void at Center on the top line. Its a win win.

I'm glad Svitov went back to Russia, because Peca has been nothing short of amazing.

Anyone think Peca could be a candidate for either the Bill Masterson (Perserverance and Sportsmanship) or King Clancy (Leadership and Humanitarian) award(s) this year?

Too bad they don't really have a 'Comeback Player of the Year' award.....

If he keeps playing like he is, I think the Masterson's a very strong possibility.
