But 5 and a game to Jones is correct and probably a small suspension as well.
watch the hit again, his back was to Jones the whole time. where was Bergerson bad decision? maybe he was dumb enough to think he was going to get hit from behind since Jones could seen his numbers the whole way.

I think his legs were involuntarily twitching...not a good sign. They had to move his legs together for him.

As harsh as this may sound these guys are thinking that it's better to risk an injury to the other player than get scored on and benched for the rest of the game.

You don't push the guy in the boards...you pin them against the boards and allow another player to come in and win the lose puck or you kick the pick out yourself. Jones made the wrong decision on the play. He hit the player with no intention of getting the puck.

you stop about 1 foot from the boards and certainly don't crouch down when you're flying down the ice with a guy a foot behind you...you see that play a million times and that's why I'd bet that Jones never expected him to stop as soon as he did. I'd bet Jones thought he would stop a foot from the boards absorb the hit then they'd battle for the puck.

That sucks...I was saying that in jest. I'm sure it'll be on the highlights tonight somewhere and yes, even YouTube.

they give you a stick

use it to strip the ****ing puck off someone

since when do you need to hit from behind to be able to win a puck battle?

The bad decision was stopping 3 feet from the boards when a guy is 1 foot behind you going 30 miles an hour...he has no idea that Bergeron is suddenly going to put himself in a dangerous position.

Maybe i need to see it again. My first instinct about it was that it was more Bergerons heads placing than Jones trying to injure him. Again, maybe i need to see it a few more times.

I have yet to see the hit, but I know for a fact that you're wrong.
okay here are the facts: the flyers will own the 3 longest suspensions of the NHL season and we are not even a dozen games in. Their coach and organization should be punished, 3 times is not a coincidence its clear the players are being put in a certain mindset where they do not respect their opponents

Bottom line, you don't shove a guy in a prone position against the boards. Jones wasn't moving so fast that he couldn't make that distinction.

Bergeron didn't make any sudden movement.

Jones could see his numbers the entire time, Jones should have known better, doesnt matter if he stops or not. if you can see the numbers you know you have the guy in a vulnerable position.

if you stop to hold up on your check the player will blow right by you. You won't get the chance to poke the puck away.

Don't bother trying to explain it. S/he is seeing what s/he wants to see. Jones made the error, not Bergeron.

I just hope Patrice is going to be okay.

Totally agree. You can't say he wanted to injure him. He did a play that happens a lot. But this kind of play is the type that everyone knows the potential for injury is great and now it might have happened. I am really surprised more people aren't injured more often with the reckless play that is currently happening in the NHL

Yup intentional or not, I'm not surprised.

I haven't seen the hit but reading some posts on the Bruins board and here, it sounds like a very disturbing hit, it sounds worse than any other hit this season. I'll tell you this though - all these freakin hits HAVE TO STOP. Hope Bergeron's alright. I hate it when a player goes down.
