Maybe the Vancouver Canucks would like to take Samuelsson off of the Detroit Red Wing's hands then eh

It's a shame the Canucks haven't found a right winger for the Twin towers

Ten seconds left of the last period of the Hockey finals in the Olympic Games in Vancouver. It's 2-2 and faceoff in the Canadian defense zone. We have one goal: To win the draw, send in as much people as we can in front of Luongo and let Lidström get the puck. We send in Sundin and Zetterberg to win the faceoff. Victor Hedman, 6-7 (and growing) and Douglas Murray (6-4 and mean) to stand in front of the goalie and Kronwall and Lidström on the blue line. Lundqvist is having oxygen beside. Sundin wins the faceoff gives it to Zetterberg who passes...ah-ah...not Lidström but Kronwall, who shoots the puck, Luongo makes the save and HEDMAN scores on the rebound!!!! It's 3-2 Sweden!!! Another Olympic gold!!!!

I don't know, Weinhandl had an awesome WC, better then I ever had expected. If he plays like that in Switzerland next season I think he's a front runner for a 3rd/4th line spot in 2010.

I don't really follow the Swedish leagues or see much of their players. I just know Weinhandl is praised as a God on the Canucks message boards so it's interesting seeing nobody has him in the lineup.

He's playing in Dynamo Moskva next season.

I know, I was referring to next years WC in Zürich and Berne. Which is the last big tournament before the Olympics.

Haven't pretty much all of the old guard (Sundin, Forsberg, Naslund...) Retired from the national team?

I could see Naslund playing in the 2010 games (if he is wanted) since it's in Vancouver....

Any Sweden line that doesn't have Franzen as a top two line is a joke. The guy just broke Red Wing playoff records and is poised to dominate for years to come, and to not see him on a good portion of these "lines" is weak.

Also for D-Man, Jonathon Ericsson will be on that team as well.

Should never say never but I very much doubt Sundin and Naslund would continue. Possibly Naslund if all goes well in New York and he gets back the passion for the game. I'm pretty sure Lidström will be our captain at the 2010 olympics though. And well Forsberg... if he can get away from the constant injuries, then yeah definitely. He's in great shape *except* for his foot or ankle or whatever.

Anyone knows what Tallinders status on playing for the national team is? I heard he dosen't want to, but I haven't heard anything confirmed, just heard something concerning the games against Finland coming up.

This is my team for Vancouver in 1.5 years, selected with 50/50 heart/brain.

Peter Forsberg - Mats Sundin (C) - Daniel Alfredsson (A)
Johan Franzén - Henrik Zetterberg - Thomas Holmstrom
Markus Naslund - Nicklas Backstrom - Mattias Weinhandl
Sedin - Sedin - Samuel Pahlsson

Niklas Lidstrom (A) - Niklas Kronwall
Mattias Ohlund - Tobias Enstrom
Kenny Jonsson - Douglas Murray

Henrik Lundqvist
Liv/Tellqvist/whoever

PP1:
Forsberg - Zetterberg -Alfredsson
Lidstrom - Ohlund

PK1:
Alfredsson - Zetterberg
Lidstrom - Jonsson

Forsberg will be as good as new by then with a brand new foot , Lids will be on his last year on his 2y contract with DET and heading for his 8th Norris and Alfie is just keep on going. (Also, Sundin will hopefully have decided what to do by then).

extra: Kristian Huselius, Victor Hedman,

Sundin will stop icehockey maybe this year or next year, Alfredsson isn't same Alfredsson than 3-5 years ago, I think Lidstrom will stop too after this season, Sedins aren't as good as couple of years ago. Sweden is my second favourite team in world championships and olympics, but I have to say that future of Sweden looks very, very bad. Their best players are old and they're gonna stop ice hockey soon.. then they has only Zeta.
And then only Finland shows to world that nordic countries can play good hockey.

Now swedish hockey lins in Vancouver 2010.

D. Sedin, H. Sedin, Zetterberg
Bäckström, Näslund, J. Jönsson
Franzen, Holmstrom, Weinhandl
Påhlsson, Huselius, and some swedish league player

Kronwall, Öhlund
K. Jönsson, Murray

Lundqvist

Swedish hockey looks great, new future Sundins and so on are poping upp (you can't say that though because it's blasphemy for some stupid reason).

My lines for 2010 (just a first pre-alpha guess)

Franzén-Zetterberg-Alfredsson
Nilsson-Bäckström-Hörnqvist
Sedin-Sedin-Samuelsson
Ledin-Berglund-Påhlsson

Lidström-Strålman
Enström-Jönsson
Kronwall-Murray
Edler-Grossman

Lundqvist
Enroth

I can't see Sundin playing and Forsberg? Yikes...he's probably already played his final NHL game.
