watch it be Guenin just to piss me off. it won't be lil Timonen, however... Parent, Picard, and Guenin would be the options, I'd think.

Hatcher hurting his knee while lifting weights sounds completely BS to me as well... his knee was bothering after the Florida game according to Timmeh P or someone.

I can't see how it wouldn't be Picard - he can replace Jones offense for the next 2 games as Rory sure won't. And if he is stellar for those 2 games keep him up and sit Rory. If he doesn't play that well, send him back down and it won't be such a bruise on the ego as he would have only been recalled to replace Jones.

But I would be surprised if they play Rory for the whole month. His signing seemed more of if a player misses a game or two, he will be ready to step in and won't be hurt developmentally while he waits for a chance to play. Since this is an extended injury I would rather them call up a young player to get some extended pro icetime.

Are we having another situation where a player stinks on the ice and is slowly forced out of the door because of phantom injuries?

I agree. Even the announcers said his knee was hurting. Not a good thing for his knee to be acting up as it makes him untradeable if that was something they were considering. This will probably linger all year, unless he really did damage and is out for the year. Same with Gagne, I find it amusing they have not said much at all. I look forward to guenin getting a nice long look if they take that route. I firmly belivee he will be solid playing on the bottom pair. Wonder what the pairings will be?

Hatcher was not horrible last year (at least after the first month or two) and was brilliant on the PK. In the offseason he looked like he worked very hard to continue his transition to be better suited to the "new" NHL so I think there can be some truth to this. Hatcher doesn't seem to suggest that he's being forced out the door or that this is anything but a temporary setback.

By the way, Lil or Baby Timonen is hilarious.

No ****, but I think learning how to pronounce someone's name is basic respect though some level of Anglicizing is necessary/forgivable due to certain sounds having no English equivalent.

Hatcher may have some meniscus damage to the knee, as well.

“Hopefully, it’s just as simple as it sounds,” he said. “I think it is. It was feeling pretty good. I think I injured it in the weight room after a game this season.”

Who wants to put money on Hatch going on LTIR the same day we sign Forsberg?

I, for one, demand that weights be suspended for a minimum 20 games and, if this continues, that the company that made the weights suffer stiff fines and penalties.

Are you implying that Rathje's injuries were fake??? I cant think of anyone else that would apply to your statement.

If that is what you are referring to, I disagree 100%

Phantom was the wrong word, but it seems like his injury is a way for the team to get rid of him.

I see no downside to this.

If they want to use it that way that is their choice. To me this is simply a dman on our roster that is having minor knee surgery (if there is a such thing) due to an injury.

Hackett maybe? The whole vertigo thing was kind of nebulous.

Yeah, I guess I mean in the short term. There's always the chance that he feels he needs to rush back to "help the team" and plays injured all year. Wow, that would be awful, actually.
