Michel Therrien's wife accused of death threats

The wife of former Montreal Canadiens head coach Michel Therrien, Genevieve Simard, was formally accused of death threats, assault and battery and armed assault and battery, Wednesday morning in the Laval court-house.

The 40-years-old woman, who pleaded non-guilty, has been facing criminal prosecution since being implied in a violent fight in Laval's Cartier Arena on December 1st.

The incident allegedly happened during an Atom-category hockey game implying the son of the Simard-Therrien couple.
Mrs. Simard allegedly threatened to kill the team's manager as well as hitting her with her purse and sticking her fingers in her eyes.

Genevieve Simard will return to court on February 9th.

Nothing funny about that, especially with some of the things some parents have done in the past...like murdering the coach in front of your kids and the coaches kids too. When will parents learn. I really think this is a serious matter and shouldn't be taken lightly by the police, the courts and by people here.

Its because of parents like this why there are more kids quitting hockey, less adults coaching/managing and the dramatic fall of referees in local leagues around Canada.

I work at an arena and I can tell you first hand that there are ALOT of crazy parents out there. It seems everyday there is a screaming match over ice time or a parent belittling their child for how they played...disgusting

These are the kind of incidents that the "relax it's just a game" campaign is supposed to quell. This will probably get a lot of press in Mtl and even out here...?

Anything about hockey gets a lot of press in Montréal. The crappy/stupid/moronic Journal de Montréal had this story on the front page when the event took place.

One can not over-emphasize the importance of wearing a visor.
