the french media wont linch the teams, not more than the english media to be honest I think it will be the exact opposite.

Had a feeling some team was going to sign him to a small contract.

Well best of luck to Audette in Florida. He'll probablely find himself a nice retirement home while he is down there.

Good news for him. I think he's good for a couples more years in the NHL but it just wasen't his place in Montreal...

Good luck Donald...

Not much of a gamble for Florida at $150,000.

I for one do not expect too much. It seemed to me last year that he had less hockey in him than Czerckowski. He certainly was given every chance...way more than Czerck anyway.

I can only guess why the Habs management chose to buy out the younger, healthier player over Audette (not that I'm clamouring to have M.C. back).

Bad move I think. I'm very ignorant of the Panthers, but don't they have a slew of skilled young RWers who could use some ice-time (Huselius, Shvidki, Novoseltsev) ?

They lost Horton (one of their better young forwards) for the season. I'm guessing that's why they gave Audi the nod.

Well, they need more than Audette to turn things around Start with Luongo, add a few more ppl, then bring in completely new players, then we'll see.

Horton is out for the year and they already dumped Novoseltsev. I was just in Miami and the Panthers are hurting big time for offense and that was before they lost Horton (who was just starting to bloom).

It's a desperation move by Dudley.

Desperation or not, paying 150,000$ to a player who scored 30 goals regularly a few seasons ago is a good and relatively risk-free investment.

That won't matter. They're paying the man $150K! If they feel the youngins deserve the icetime more, then I doubt they'd lose any sleep at night by benching audette.
Whens the next time Florida plays in MOntreal? You know you can expect the crowd to boo Audette right out of the stadium once he touches that puck!
