All Star voting (Merged)

I thought that the voting for the all star game started today.

Can't find it anywhere on the NHL site. Anyone know what is going on with this?

Why would you care about the All-Star game in early November? And do you really think it matters who you vote for? The same boring roster is going to be trotted out again. Jagr and Shanny will be on the team I'm sure (because of their 600 goal status) and Ottawa's coach would be foolish not to include Henrik as a goaltender on the roster. But the starting vote will probably go to Marty Gerber or Marty Biron because their clubs have the most wins.

I believe the most hated man in the NHL deserves a spot.

Something is rotten in Denmark .... there is a drop down box on the vote page to vote for a player not on the main list ....no Avery. Blair Betts, Ryan Hollweg, Colton Orr , and Dubinsky are on there but no Avery...... the league has it out for Avery!!!!!!!

Oh yeah? At least theres half a dozen (or more?) Rangers to choose from- go look at how many Islanders there are in that drop down list. Battling for top of the friggin division and look at this.

Maybe, and I'm just speculating here so keep the machete in the purse, it's because the Islanders are putting in more of a team effort rather than relying on invidiual performances. So while they have a solid record, they don't have as many stand out/All Star players. However, I'm only guessing.

HAHA not for long. Enjoy this early season success young one, there's no way the Islanders are making the playoffs this year.

I always assumed that the ballots were made before the season started, which is why early season stand-outs tended to get screwed by the balloting.

Wow what a weak way to vote for your favorites. It's just terrible because of the limited choices available.

I voted for Ovechkin, Crosby, Alfredsson, Brian Campbell, Chara and Henrik for the East and Zetterberg, Thornton, Gaborik, Pronger, Phaneuf and Hasek for the West.

I just wasn't happy at all with the way the voting was set up. It's annoying.

EDIT: I just voted a second time for Drury, Jagr and Shanny with Phillips and Redden on defense and Henrik in goal. Not one Ranger defenseman is listed! HAHA

You can't write in Avery because he's not in the drop down list.

Not only is this Bettman controlling who gets a chance to go to the game (Asham, Brashear, Orr, Hollweg, Dowd are in no way better than Avery, check it out) http://fanballoting.nhl.com/vote.asp?site=US

But its really a response to the "vote for Rory" campaign - showing up the fans.

So even if you wanted to write in Avery you cant because Gary doesnt want him there!

Thats a good point and it does logically explain why a guy like Campoli can be a top-10 defenseman in scoring and not even be listed- it also explains why Jason blake IS on that list. But if they were going by last year then theres no reason guys like Brendan Witt or Miro Satan shouldnt be there.

Point is, Im actually with you guys and you should be able to vote for whoever is being the star right now, not who was the star last flippin year.

The Islanders have been hearing THAT every single time they have made the playoffs since 2001. Remember, the Rangers and the Islanders were essentially tied last year, and in the end they were separated by only two points!

I think we should all start a Dan Girardi write-in campaign, the kid deserves it.

The write in is a joke. Colton Orr is on it, yet Avery is nowhere to be found?

If the NHL was afraid of the Rory system of last year happening again, they should have changed the format. Avery would have a shot too if enough people on the internet got into it like last year.

All-star games are always heavily skewed towards production the previous season. Unless the voting process is scrapped towards only coaches and GMs voting, ballot placement is very much based on last year.

Fan voting in my mind has always been a gimmick. It doesn't add any excitement in the fanbase and always leaves the ballot boxes stuffed in large markets while some players don't get the credit they deserve while playing in smaller cities.

I want to see the best possible game with the best players. I do believe every team should have 1 representative but aside from this, let the GMs and coaches vote.

I know why there aren't many Islanders on the All-Star ballot. They haven't played enough games this season! Have they reached 5 games yet? Man, those are some long stretches between games, huh? Seems like they're playing once a week.
