Deal Done(OFFICIAL!)

Report in Tennessean that press conference called for 3PM to announce the deal.

http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs..../1028/SPORTS02

WOOHOO.....

No doubt, we still have to put the butts into the seats longterm to make this a viable hockey market into the future, but this deal does give us that chance to make it happen

To all those hockey fans that have sympathized with our ordeal, and have said kind words....thanks so much.

Looks like great news Preds fans! I'm happy that they're being given a decent shot at making hockey work in a non-traditional market.

This looks like 14,000 average over the next three years. Is that correct?

I'm going to resist jumping up and down until the Sports Authority & Metro Council rubber stamp it and the NHL Board of Governors approve it by fax vote....

then I will dance a glorious jig!

Hopefully the group's incompetence to get a deal done doesn't carry over into running the team (assuming they actually try to improve things here).

This is a freaking joke.

My guess is that the Tennessean jumped the gun on this one. Probably trying to actually beat Lawson to an announcement...

Ding, ding, ding...we have a winner!

According to CupCrazy on NP.com, Mayor Dean's secretary jumped the gun and called the Tennessean reporter Michael Cass to give him the story first and instead of actually verifying it with the local group...he simply ran with it as fact to attempt to scoop Richard Lawson, who's now over at the City Paper. Lawson has basically backed up that sequence of events.

If you look at Lawson's article from this morning, he wrote that a "term sheet" needed to be signed by the local group and received by the Mayor's office before 1 PM to go ahead with the 3 PM press conference. Obviously, no term sheet has been signed or delivered yet.

It's true this time, Freeman will also be on 104.5 shortly.

Freeman and company have no plan to increase marketing or how to get more fans.
