Bryzgalov anyone??

So the Ducks put Bryzgalov on waivers today. Things that make you go hmmmmmmm.....Vally had one strong game but are we completely sold on him yet----maybe. maybe not----however at 1.36M, Bryzgalov is an interesting option.......do we have cap space? Will other teams with higher priority beat us out? Is he even a decent option?? I need answers!!!!!

We don't need him, and what exactly are the chances that we will get him anyway? Probably none

How are we sold on someone we haven't been with or watched (most likely) but not on our Valiquette? Plus Vally is a good 700K cheaper. The answer is no. We don't want him. It's good for other teams that Anaheim decided to throw a semi decent backup at not that big of a price on the waivers, good for them, they'll get a decent goalie.. but he's not for us.

Pittsburgh I'd say lands him.

I like Vally and always have. As for brygalov, he would be a great back up, but I dont thikn would be happy playing 10-15 games a year.

With Vally he looked good, but did play against a Toronto team that played the night before and might have been a bit tired. Vally didnt exactly get tested much that game against a rested Toronto team.

Im looking to see Vally get tested against a fresh team thats not tired and maybe a team playing good hockey, so we can see when tested really how he handles it.

Reminds me a lot of Jim Carey. Sort of a flash in the pan and did well last year, but hasn't really looked like last years form much. There is a reason he's on waivers mind you.

He's what, twice the cap hit of Vally. Um, pass.

I'd consider it... he could probably be a decent starter, so a nice insurance policy... but in the end it's a cap world so probably not...

He would be a good fit with the Isles behind DP.

the only thing i would take him for is maybe to trade....the ducks havent been able to trade him away because they have been asking for a ridiculous amount...i think if we did pick him up, we could trade him somewhere for a low pick and a decent prospect.......but i dont want to take the chance of getting stuck with him so ill pass

i could see PHX goin after him. Maloney wanted him but the ducks were asking for too much, heres his chance to get him for nothing

Bryzgalov is a good 1B-2A goalie. He did quite well in the playoffs the past few seasons. That said there is no way one of the 22 teams below us in the standings doesn't put in a waiver claim to get him before we would. His cap number is only $1.18. nhlnumbers must have a typo on Hillier's salary. It is 850k but they say his cap hit is $3.2. We should be fine with Valley. I'm gonna say Phoenix (3rd to last) gets him. If not then Edmonton.

I'm sure they would have preferred to lower there asking price to at least get something. I would take a late round pick rather then be left empty-handed. I think of his salary in a cap world, and the fact he hasn't had the opportunity to prove himself as a starter.

The Yotes and Pens should each throw in a claim...

how many times do we have to go over this? if renney didn't have confidence in valley he would have gotten another goalie over the offseason. and if you think that renney lost confidence in valley after his stellar performance in a win last week then you are completely out of touch with reality.

not to mention the fact that if we had the cap space to carry a $1.36 mil goalie, montoya would be in ny

If the Rangers needed a backup, then they would have signed Cujo in the offseason for less than Byrz's cap hit.

Pass

That's a pretty good guess there. Haven't been paying too much attention and don't mean to hijack the thread but what's the deal with Fleury, I know he was out for a bit, has he finally returned to earth and not been playing well?

That is his total cap hit if he reaches his bonuses, which Ducks fans believe he should.

Ducks Executive Vice President/General Manager Brian Burke talked to the media via conference call Friday morning. Here is a transcript:

On Bryzgalov’s attitude:
“He’s been great. He has not asked for a trade. This whole schematic here is mine. He never came to me and said, ‘I want out.’ His agent never said ‘I want out.’ When we signed Hiller during the playoffs, you didn’t hear a word out of Bryz. We gave Giguere the four-year deal with a no-trade clause and you didn’t hear a word out of Bryz. He’s been terrific.

"I think organizations need to have reputations for honest answers with their players. And since this player came through for us: he won three playoff rounds in the last two years, he’s a quality person who helped us win, then he deserves to go somewhere else and play. The market has not materialized and I’m keeping my word today.”
I'm no big fan of Burke's but this sounds straight to me...
