Cheechoo to Ottawa (Proposal)

Would you like a guy like Cheechoo come to Ottawa?

What would you give up to get him?

...and I know that Ottawa shouldn't change anything since our team is 15-2, but what if SJ was willing to part with Cheechoo at a low cost since he is not producing like the years before.

Wait, why exactly would San Jose want to trade a former 56 goal scorer at his lowest value?

Montreal can make that trade and then Cheechoo can come and play here for free so that he has a chance to actually win something.

In all seriousness, Cheechoo's value isn't very high right now so I wouldn't expect Ottawa to be overly interested unless the Sharks were looking to simply dump him for picks and/or prospects.

What if we took Bryzgalov off waivers and traded him to you one-for-one? I'd say that's a pretty good reason... you guys might have to add a pick to balance it out, but I think we could work something out?

I don't think I would want Cheechoo, he's too much of a streaky player and we'd probably be giving too much for him.

I would give you any three of our Russian prospects below for Cheechoo right now.

Lyamin
Mirnov
Nikulin
Anikeyenko
Bashkirov
and I'll add these three in for free - Gimayev, Megalinsky and Atyushov.

Give up a 12 - 1 goalie with a 1.75 GAA for just Emery who is 2-1 with a 3.00 GAA?

I think he would be a great 2nd line scorer... with Spez up the middle
take the pressure off of the big line

This will not help us in the playoffs We will be a far worse team than we are right now.

I rather have Steve Bernier, he looks promising(Grit, production, size)

I would rather the sens get Bernier, Pavelski, or Michalek (unlikely) ahead of Cheecho. Although he could possibly be a good fit with Spezza, giving us a strong top two lines.
Heatley-Fisher-Alfredsson
someone -Spezza-Cheecho

The problem is that Ottawa isn't prepared to offer anything the Sharks would take. If the Sharks trade one of their good young players, they would want an established (preferably better) player in return, prospects wouldn't get you anywhere. I can't see how Ottawa would go for that, since they are a even bigger contender than San Jose is.

Streaky or not, Cheechoo definitely qualifies as a top 6 forward. He could definitely help our team. I think Murray should try something bold, a blockbuster trade that will shock the entire National Hockey League.

Cheechoo
San Jose's 1st round pick

for

Joe Thornton

If it works, Murray will be considered the greatest GM in all of professional sports. If not, well they'll just think he's a few fries short of a Happy Meal.

no he wouldn't. If he can do nothing with Thornton as his centre, he's doing nothing with Spezza. I honestly don't know how to rationalize his 56 goal season, but I can say without a doubt that he'll never hit 50 goals again. San Jose is even more talented than a few years ago and no mater who he's played with the last couple seasons, he's done absolutely nothing.

At least Glen Murray can say that he lost Thornton. Cheechoo just lost his luck.

Cheechoo had a great season the year before Thorton came too. Don't forget that. I'd be exstatic if we got him for a low price.

He reminds me of Brandon Bochenski for some reason.
