#3 Michal Rozsival!

Wow... While I'm thrilled that Rozsival is doing so well on the offensive side of the puck, what does that say for all of these "superstar" fowards that are on the team.

Rosie's been tremendous, he made some very nice defensive plays tonight as well. Of course, this probably means that he ends up getting 5 million a year on the open market.

I took some **** from the people I told when I said I voted for Rozy on the breakout year poll on Sam's blog.

I didn't think it would be for goals, though.

Highest scoring defensemen in the league..i think. Impressive to say the least.
Especially when you consider all the abuse he gets.

Close, but no cigar....Sergei Gonchar of the Pens.

However, if Roszi keeps this up....well, would be cool.

I think he meant goals, which is a category that Rozsival does lead.

I've got Rozsival on both of my fantasy teams, here's to him keeping up this scoring pace

Right now he's on pace for just under 50 points and around 26 goals. If he does that and plays the kind of defense that he has so far, he's going to be difficult to sign, especially when you consider how sought after Defensemen are on the open market. It's like pitching: high demand, little supply, inflated prices.

Sure, with all the vets we have coming off the cap he's affordable, but you have to start looking at the RFA that are around the corner. Getzlaf just got 5 mill a year for his 2nd contract. Good young players are going to get big money, and we've got a lot of those players coming up over the next few years. With the money and terms that Sather and co gave Gomez and Drury, I'm not sure it's prudent to lock up Rozsival to a long term deal at 5 million. It would be a shame to lose him though.

I think he's replaceable as long as Sanguinetti finds the defensive side of his game. Sanguinetti should be that offensive defenseman that we've been looking for and I doubt Rozsival scores 26 goals. He's just on a hot streak right now.

Even if Sanguinetti comes in and plays on the 3rd pair, having him on the point for the PP is why he's here.

Of course if Rozsival goes, then you have to keep either Mara, Malik or get someone from the outside. No way you can have a defensive core of all players with less than 3 years of experience (except Tyutin who isn't exactly a Vet either)

Tyutin - Girardi
Staal - X
Sanguinetti - Sauer

Signing Roszival is a top priority. Not even a question. Sanguinetti is going to replace Roszival next year? I don't think so.

There's no way the Rangers will start two rookies (including one that's just starting his professional career) next season.

Roszival needs to be re-signed. Like it or not he's the anchor on defense and unless the team is willing to go after a player like Redden (who would be an upgrade), they really don't have a choice--he knows the system and it fits him well. Unless there is a major change in philosophy of the organization or a change in coach (both unlikely at this moment), this has to get done.
