preds game 11/29

if i were to show up in a preds jersey at an ottawa home game
how would i be received by ottawa fans?
i have great respect for alexander radulov and would like to support him
but not if people look at me in disgust as though i were sporting a domi jersey

You would be suprised how Ottawa Fans are.
You may get the odd look but no one will say anything.
Sens fans are probably the most respectfull of their opponents, unless you wear a leafs Jersey you are more than fine.
You may be the only one out there.

If you wear a Preds jersey, quite honestly, no one will care.

Although I'm not the type to heckle anyway, I'm usually more interested to see what jerseys people have and what names they put on them.

You might get the odd person teasing you, but we're pretty good for visiting team's fans. (unless you're a drunk leafs and or habs fan). I wouldn't worry about it.

I was sitting beside Cairns' parents once, and they told me that the SBP is the friendliest canadian arena they've been to ... that in Toronto they had stuff thrown at them. But no, unless you're really rude or something, you'll be fine.

We will drag you under the stands and beat you until you can no longer walk. Then we spray paint "SENS ARMY 4 LIFE !!1!1!" on your back.

No, seriously, as long as you're not obnoxious, you should be fine. I went to a Sens game as a Jets fan back in the day and was treated well. Come tt think of it, I was pretty obnoxious myself, but that's in the Civic Center days of the Sens when they sucked so people were probably used to other teams fans gloating.

I think you'll honestly be seen as more of a curiousity. Not a lot of Nashville fans around here....

the season before the lockout I think it was, when Yashin gave me tickets (SHUT UP) and I got to sit in the Islanders family section. They were really nice people. The tickets are in a frame, I'll check the date when I get home.

Also same day Schastlivy's dad tried to get me and Petr in an arranged marriage .... scary big Russian dad...

That's almost as odd as Schastlivy going to Yashin's brother's games in Kanata, without Alexei. Just Yashin's parents and Petr.

Hahaha

I gotta ask, how did you even manage to get tickets from Yashin?

Yashin's the godfather to a friend of mine's kids. My friend is the ex trainer for the Caps, Leafs, early Sens. So he got me into a practice, and Yashin gave me 4 $80 tickets for the night. It was my second sens game ever, I was all OMGOMGOGMGOGMOGMG. That's why I can't boo him!

I got to hang out in the hallway of the Islanders locker room post practice (not in the locker room, the hallway) while he was fixing his stick, and Petr Schastlivy is yacking away to him in Russian. Then Schastlivy's dad, I didn't recognize Petr, comes out of nowhere: "you sens fan, yeah? you meet son, Petr? He good hockey boy! ... You hockey girl ... he hockey boy... you have hockey sons..." I was like OMG, Mum's like "SHE'S FOURTEEN." "..can she be 20?"

edit: so it would be a few seasons before lockout.

That is totally awesome. Except you can't boo Yashin

This just made my day, I can just picture a Russian man say :

thanks for that.

I don't know, but just out of curiousity... how are your reflexes?
Say, a battery came flying at your head at 70 mph... is that something you'd generally be able to catch?

jk man. I know there are a few horror stories out there in other cities and other sports, but I don't think you'll have a problem at all.

As long as you're not wearing a Leafs jersey, you should be safe.

I think I'll try an experiment one of these days. I'll buy a Leafs jersey with Yashin's name on the back and I'll replace the shoulder patches with pictures of Lonnie Glieberman's face. Then wear it to SBP and see what happens.

Couldn't think of a particularly offensive number in Ottawa. Any help?
84? - Mulroney
93? - Chretien
76? - Bonk's frusteratingly lazy early career number
91? - a wasted pick.
Other?

99 would probably just universally offend hockey fans if it was with 'Yashin' on a Leafs jersey.

So long as your not an ass, you should be fine in Any Jersey anywhere. I was in the cheap seats in Buffalo during the fight game last year with an Alfredsson jersey, and everything was fine. Even had some good discussions with some of the Sabres fans sitting around me. Even when I was pissed at Peters fighting Emery after the initial fight lol.
