I voted "no" only because we have some older guys in key positions who've got shaky records in terms of durability over the last few seasons.

I reserve the right to say that if they all are reasonably healthy for the rest of the year, as in, healthy enough to give us consistent production, that I will have been wrong.

I voted "no" for many of the same reasons stated here.
But anything could happen. That's the magic of sports.
And I will support them either way.

I wonder what the players are voting?
Do THEY really believe they have a GOOD shot?
That psychology could start to wear on them by February. That's the difference between being in the 9th position (just out of it) and 12 or 13th.

If I'm Howson, I'm (unfortunately for the fans) looking towards next year, not this one.

There is no way I'm voting in this poll. It is way too early and I don't want to get my hopes up or jinx us. Anything can happen in the remaining 3/4 of the season.

Stop the maddness.

I vote no. We're on the right track and getting closer; but, even if everyone stays healthy and productive, I still don't see enough talent and skill on the ice. Things could break our way (and I'd be delighted), but I see the CBJ being a year or two away from being a consistent contender and making noise in the playoffs. It's finally within sight.

I'm with this. I voted they'd win 8 out of 8 in the division games poll, and we saw how that worked out.

I had to vote in the "no" column just based on our lack of scoring depth to date. As I keep posting, the real test for this team will be December. If the team can come out of December .500 or better, then they will have set themselves up nicely for a run. If they're under .500, they may be able to still play competitive hockey, but they will have put their fate in the hands of others as far as playoff contention is concerned.

There should be another poll after December.

I say yes, but key players need to stay healthy and i think a true no.1 center is needed.

This team has gone from a fringe playoff team in the Eastern Conference last year to a Fringe playoff team in the Western Conference...

Basically, the Bluejackets have graduated from western conference laughingstock to western conference playoff pretenders....

I think it will go down to the wire. If they can avoid serious injuries and find a way to keep from wearing down, I like the chances.

I actually dont mind if it goes to the wire. It makes the end of the season more exciting. Also I dont know if anyone thinks the team will make it with comfort so to speak. I would be dissapointed if the team does not make it, but an exciting finish could also be fun.

When we want to make the playoffs in this season we have to do radical cut. But I`m afraid some players are untouchable and always get more ice-time, whether play bad or no.

No offence but we have no offense. Where are our wunderkids that the other teams have? Or an older, proven scorer? Rick and Nik can't do it all. Hitch says its a mans game while other teams youngsters tear us up. This has all been covered a zillion times before, but our power play stinks. Defense is great to keep games close enough to give us a chance, but we may lead the league in shutouts and still not make the playoffs. After 7 yrs. should we be happy just to not be out of the race by Christmas? Something needs to change or Sorry, NO, we don't make it this year. Love my Jackets ( even though this sounds negative ) but we have been underperforming in most barometer games.

I'm optimistic the Jackets can nab the 7th or 8th seed. Of course, this is assuming we continue to get great goaltending, the defense continues to stay healthy, and we don't lose Nash or Zherdev to injury.

But hey, the way they've played thus far I have no reason to think they can't make the playoffs. Only 1 point out of the playoffs in January is a nice change!

That is a positive way to look at it. Definitely the health of key players is of huge importance, the goaltending I have faith in, both are excellent goaltenders.
