Official Game Thread: NJ-NYR

After a great game on Tuesday, we have to come out and sistain it. Win or lose, as long as the effort and good defense is there, ill be happy since we'll playing a much better team. It would be nice, while the devils are somewhat struggling to come in and steal a win againist these Jersey foes. I hope and expect a great game, hopefully not another clunker like in November.

Prediction:

3-3 tie

NYR- Kovalev, Messier, Rucinsky

NJ- Rupp, Rafalski, Stevenson

I'm afraid to watch tonight. But with the way the Devils are playing lately, I'm predicting a 4-2 Rangers win

Is Stevens playing tonight? Last I heard, he was doubtful with the flu. If he is not playing, 4-2 Rags. Lindros, Hlavac, Kovie, Ortmeyer for the Rags, Friesen and Gionta for the Devs. Brodeur will be on top of his game, he always is vs. the Rags. Without Stevens, this Devils team is lost, they have no-one to lead them. Prime example was the game vs the Sens.

I just hope its not the same old story: The Devils use the Rangers to snap a slump and springboard to the freaking President's Trophy. That's not going to happen, right? Right?

I predict 3-1 Rangers

Lindros with 2 goals, Ortmeyer with the other.

Lindros is really playing awesome as of late, now with us playing the Devils should make Lindros more pumped up. I expect tonight to be his best game as a Ranger.

For the devils I predict Elias, he always hurts us. Rangers should try to shutdown Elias and Gomez to start and then work from their.

If we can manage to get by the Devils tonight, that'll give us 47 points to their 52. Pretty well within striking range. Boston also have 52 points, and if we can take care of business with our back to back against them, we'll be in pretty good shape. I like our chances with the way we've been improving out play as of late, it almost seems like the team "gets it"

Montreal is going to be a rough game, they're not a great team on paper but have been playing really well. We seem to have really hard times against teams like that.

Go Rangers

This will make or break the Ranger's season. If we win, I truly believe this team will go on a tear and exceed the goal of just making the playoffs but possibly winning the division. Maybe I'm hoping too much but it certainly is not being unrealistic with only 8 points seperating us from the Flyers. If we lose, well, repeat the last 6 years.

Aaah, Ricky, he was a good one allright. Too bad he never got one last shot at glory.

This should be an intersting game, the surging Rangers against the slumping Devils. I'm not sure what to expect.

This game has "brutal loss" written all over it. A chance to close ground on divison rivals, against a divison rival and coming off an impressive win 2 nights before. When was the last time he Rangers won critical games under circumstances like that?

We have 1 win against the Devs since '97. Dunham has 1 win against the Devs in his career, 0-5 as a Ranger.

In a pre-season match between the devs and the rangers, Scott Stevens basically said that this years version of the rangers is much harder to play against and predicted they would have no problem getting into the playoffs. Hopefully the version that beat the Isles 4-1 shows up, I'd hate to see Stevens have an easy game of it.

Assuming he plays. Stevens has already missed three games battling a particularly nasty case of the flu. He isn't expected to suit up.

Don't mind at all but the boards here won't allow it as it's too big. The one I currently use is a smaller version but still bigger then the size restrictions. Perhaps if you talk to Buffaloed, he'll give you lenience.

Time to show we belong among the top 8 in the East. Devils are looking to end a skid and I`m a bit scared they`ll do it tonight. If we win we`ll be 3 games over .500 for the first time in 2 seasons. Go get them boys!

3-1 Devils (Kovalev with the NYR goal)

Too Bad, in pre-season eric and stevens had some battles, and although the rangers were talking last time they played the devils, about the game being a good barometer for just how well the team is progressing. A well disciplined, hard effort against jerseys best effort could be a confidence booster and reaffirmation that this version of the rangers will be in the post season.

Oh, pity. Stevens isnt playing. Let me get a tissue. F him. The rangers can certainly set themselves up for a run here with a win. Although, we have seen this sort of thing before and the end result usually sucks. I am excited for tonight but cautious as well.

Yea and Bobby Holik in 2001-2002, as a member of the devils, said that the Rangers would make the playoffs also. So take it all with a grain of salt. The Rangers can look like a great team for 1 period, and look utterly embarrassing the next.

3-1 Rangers win. Mess (SH), Graves (PP) and Gartner for the Rangers and Broten for the Devils. I think that kid Brodeur will have a tough time with this veteran lot. Wh....what, it's not 1994??? With all of this optimism (except for Melrose and Sickboy), I thought we were talking about a Ranger team with a chance.

Devils continue their dominance, 2-1. And half the crowd is sleeping by the second period!

stevens is out for sure... im pretty sure it was the asbury park press said he will not play today and he will most likely return for the debs next game

tonight is the rangers chance to really show they are a team or if this is just a tease, no predictions, but we need 3 players to show up and in this order

1) dunham - if he plays the way he did against the isles we will be in this game and thats all we can ask for

2) lindros - i think he has scored maybe 1 goal against the devils since he has been a ranger and has missed so many chances time after time, he needs to play like he has been lately and light the lamp

3) kovalev - which kovalev shows up? when he is hot he can hurt any team especially the devils like he has in the past, but when he stinks he really can stink up the joint

lets hope these 3 and the rest of the team come to play tonight

I'd be happy with a tie or even an OT loss.

Don't realistically see us overtaking a quality team like the Devils in the standings.

I also don't want these guys thinking they're better than they are going into three games against teams that we might possibly be equal or better than.

Small steps for this team if it's ever going to learn to play 60 ****ing minutes every game.

I actually think that any Ranger win or loss will start with Holik. Make that Dunham, but the most important forward MAY be Bobby. He has yet to show up for a game against his former team. And I'm not talking about showing up on the scoresheet. He has yet to play the game against the Devils that made us despise him when he was on the other side. Both Holik and Lindros need to set the physical tone tonight. As Holik and Lindros go, so too go the Rangers.

Rheaume gets his first point as a Blueshirt against his former team.
