Alex Semin???

Hey guys I am from the oilers board, Just trying to get some info on Semin how has he played I realized he missed a bunch of games

anyway Eklund has him on the trading block could this be somewhat true

UPDATE 3:38 PM....2 Western Canadian Teams have interest in Alex Semin. (e2)

I talked to a source in NY JUST told me that two of the three Western Canadian Teams are currently trying to put together packages to attempt to trade for Alex Semin out of Washington...Another source in Western Canada confirmed this. I will continue to track this throughout the next few days...(amidst eating)

What do the oilers have that could make this trade happen ???

Ya I didn't think so

The reason we would trade for him is to play with Hemsky

I realize it's like 0.000001% chance we're talking here, but hypothetically, if the Caps were looking at moving Semin to increase organizational depth, what would they be looking for?

Young top-pairing d-man? Goalies? More experience?

Just sort of curious.

increase depth?

The Caps are in the pickle they are in for lack of goal scoring. That happened in large part because their #2 scorer of 38 goals last season has not had a single healthy game this season til the last one and no goals in that stretch as well.

The Caps signed him to a two year extention and so to improve their situation they trade Semin for depth?

This whole thing is a chain yanking exercise. next?

yeah i really dont see VAN being in the bidding it would have to be a swapping of young flash and firepower, something Vancouver sort of lacks atm. EDM is the only canadian team in the west i could see WSH doing business with.

What would Edmonton have to offer that the caps would be interested in?

Semin is exactly what the caps need right now so I can't really imagine a scenario why he would be traded. The caps would need scoring back so I think a potential trade scenario, as txpd stated, is a chain yanking scenario, heh.

doesn't make any sense at all, especially when the Caps just re-signed Semin a month or so ago...Capitals lack scoring and McPhee has said that is currently the problem and now wants to move Semin? what a stupid trade rumor

Hemsky and Semin are pretty even IMO, it would be a pointless lateral move...if it's not Hemsky, then it has to be either Stoll or Horcoff or Torres +

Gagner and a few other parts?

I don't know. I really don't see Kevin Lowe really giving McPhee a call he'd really listen too. There are 28 other teams who might have better packages if they really did want to move him (which they don't).

I was just responding to that poster. He said Stoll OR Horcoff OR Torres +
I gave 2 of the 3 as well as included the +. Don't blame me, I asked before offering.

the last thing this team needs is "Roofie" Torres, we already have to deal with Pettinger and Bradley ffs.

I don't see why Caps fans can't believe this could happen. If Semin could bring back another good scorer and another NHL roster player, I say move him. He's locked up for a decent price for 2 more years and his offensive upside is through the roof.

Who knows...it's Eklund....and these are rumors. 95% of the time, they never amount to anything.

If this team trades Semin for anything less than some exhorbernt overpayment I will definitely cease being a fan and will pray for the day AO leaves. This idea is both beyond stupid and definitely comprehenable from GMGM, similar to the Bryz passing.

Honestly we don't need 'prospects' or picks. So Edmonton is not an ideal partner. But we have a moron GM, so I'm sure you'll get him for less.

Actually our GM is pretty shrewed and truthfully if we wanted excellent value for him we would have let him reach RFA status and auctioned him to the highest bidder or take the RFA package.
