He's not going to say it's 100% unless Semin and the team doctor agree.
fair enough, I hadn't seen that. I'm guessing that means they were wrong about it being 100%.

Personally if I were a Caps fan I'd MUCH rather have Pitkanen from Edm than Bieksa from Van. So it doesn't make much sense to me. What would make even less sense though, is if the Caps actually traded Semin when they need more goals immediately...

Yep, same ankle. He skated today, but isn't playing.

Imagine the pain in George McPhee's neck over that issue? Imagine what an out of work coach gets to think about with a guy thought to have potential for scoring 50g's sitting with ONE past the one quarter mark of the season?

Capitals Notes: Alexander Semin missed his second consecutive game after tweaking his sprained right ankle in practice on Thursday. After suffering the injury during training camp, the high-scoring winger has returned three times only to sit out again. He said he will play Monday.

When they get back at it tomorrow night against Buffalo, Alexander Semin should be back in the lineup after missing the past two games with the sprained ankle that's dogged him all year. When I asked him how he felt last night, he smiled, winked and said, "Good."

Source: http://blog.washingtonpost.com/capitalsinsider/

Smiling and winking? Sounds like he's quite confident he's not going to re-injure it.
Maybe he just wanted to get out of that tough first practice

I was bummed to hear it was the ankle but happy to hear he is coming back. It sounds too good to be true, or a dumb move to rush him back if its that same ankle. Actually, the odds on his ankle being the reason he missed the last game must be remote. The wink says something. Since when have the Caps been honest about injuries anyways? It was just too easy to say it was his ankle. Chances are it was not.

As much as I like Semin, if the McPhee could get Sam Gagner, I would do it in a hearbeat. Gagner is a future franchise player, and could make Ovie into the scoring champ.

Same. Gagner could have jumped in and then we wouldnt have had kozlov or if we still signed him, he could be playing his rightful position

Who knows...it's Eklund....and these are rumors. 95% of the time, they never amount to anything.
I'm with you, i have no problem with the idea of the Caps trading Semin.

And for all those people blowing Ecklund off, normally when a reporter claims to have a source they do. I have no doubt that he has a source and that their prob are teams looking to deal for Semin.

And at the right price, I have no doubt the Caps would move him. But I am not sure they are going to get that right price. As they would want NHL players back.

I was at morning skate on Saturday, and Shultz, Eminger, and Semin, the 3 scratches, were doing skating drills, Semin participated in all of them and seemed to be skating just fine, he looked tired, but his ankle looked fine.
