Boyd Recalled

Dustin Boyd was recalled from the AHL today. TSN and sportsnet don't have links but it is on the flames' website under news and I heard it on the FAN 960.

In 18 games with Quad City, Boyd has 2 goals, 7 assists, and is a -9.

Looks like a solid recall.

A bit surprised as his stats aren't great for a guy like Boyd. However I am a huge fan of Boyd and am exciting to see what he can do up with the big club. Sounds like he is going to get a good chance to stick.

He's supposed to be playing on the 4th line, which was where he practiced on. But with how much Keenan likes to mix his lines up, it's hard to say if he'll stay on there for the whole game. But as it stands, it's: Boyd-Yelle-Godard.

Actually Keenan is shuffling the lines a lot tonight. He has seen time short-handed with Iginla, has centered Tanguay and Iginla for a shift, has got some PP-time, but most time he has played alongside Yelle and Moss so far.

Thought he looked good out there tonight in his limited ice time. Had a few solid shifts and showed some good hockey sense. Hopes he gets a couple more games to see if he can stick full time.

I wouldn't say, that he got limited ice-time. About 12 minutes is a lot for a forward just being called-up the night before. Nevertheless I also was impressed by his play. Hope he constantly shows this effort and stays with the big club.

I was really excited to hear Boyd was called up, it's good to have some youth on the roster. It was also good to hear he played well.

The knock on Boyd has been his strength and from what I saw last night he has really worked on that part of his game. Threw that one solid check and was cycling the puck well in the Hawks zone. Really like what I saw and hopefully we can see more of that from him.

Any word on why he was a scratch last night?
I missed the game against the Blues, but the other games he played pretty well IMO.

In my opinion is that it wasn't that he played bad against the Blues, it's just I thought Goddard and Smith played better. Plus, Nolan was back from the groin tweak.

Hopefully he is back in the lineup tomorrow night. I've really liked what he has brought to the team and he should be in over Smith.

He'll definitely be in if Yelle is sidelined.

I don't know for sure. Nilson will be back tomorrow so he probably is in for Yelle.

Boyd's a better center then Nilson is, and has played better in less games. The jump and hustle he showed on the Yelle goal vs Colorado is more then Nilson has showed all season. Won at least 4 loose puck battles then made a nice move to Yelle.

And my guess is Smith comes out of the lineup.

or Nilson stays out and Smith centers the 4th line... which he can do

How has Boyd been doing? I know he just recently started playing for Calgary Is this guy ever going to be a number one or number two centerman in the NHL?

Definetly think he can be a solid number 2 center. He's played well so far this season. Still needs some work and some strength, but he hasn't looked out of place at all. He'll be here for the rest of the season and hopefully by next year he can be playing a more prominent role on the team.

He may not have a choice if Langkow walks.
